Actor, Samrat Mukherjee, famously known for his acting skills in Tollywood made it to the headlines after he was taken under custody in a car accident case. For those who don't know, after the news surfaced online, Samrat was misinterpreted as a cousin of Bollywood actresses, Kajol and Rani Mukherji. Well, the arrest of such a high-profile celebrity has created a clamour in the media. But, let us tell you that the actor, Samrat Mukherjee, who was arrested, was not Kajol and Rani's cousin. Kajol's cousin, Samrat Mukherji, recently broke the silence about the same.

Kajol and Rani Mukherji's cousin, Samrat Mukherji, who is a Mumbai-based filmmaker, recently broke the silence about people confusing him with a Kolkata-based actor with the same name. The filmmaker, who is the owner of Filmalaya Studios, clarified that he has been getting a lot of phone calls since the morning, but he is not the same person who was arrested. Samrat added that actor, Samrat Mukherjee, who was arrested, doesn't belong to their family. He said:

"I would like to clarify that the actor Samrat Mukherjee, who met with an accident is not me. The actor Samrat Mukherjee is based in Kolkata and I am a filmmaker, owner of Filmalaya studios, based in Mumbai. Since morning I have been getting calls and tired now, telling them how I am not the same Samrat. It is reported that the actor who met with an accident belongs to our family, but it is not true. I would like to tell everyone, I am safe and based here in Mumbai. The actor Samrat Mukherjee does not belong to our family."

Filmmaker, Samrat Mukherji added that their family hosts the biggest Durga puja in Mumbai each year, and he is currently safe. He further requested everyone to clarify all their doubts, as he was not the one whom people thought to be arrested in the accident. Samrat can be quoted as saying:

"Everyone has mistaken me to be the other Bengali actor and people should know it's not me. Our family hosts one of the biggest Durga Puja in Mumbai and it is a big event for us. I would like people to clear this misunderstanding because I am safe here in Mumbai."

Actor, Samrat Mukherjee gets arrested in a car accident

The incident took place on August 20, 2024, and on the same day, Samrat was arrested. As per the reports, the accident took place in a busy area of Kolkata, Behala, and a motorcyclist, a 29-year-old resident of the same colony was severely injured in this accident. If the reports are to be believed, the 29-year-old motorcyclist was first taken to M R Bangur Hospital, and then he was transferred to SSKM hospital due to the severity of the injuries. As per the injured, he was returning home past midnight at around 12:30 am, when the incident took place. He shared that he had seen a car coming from the wrong side at a high speed, and it hit him, which took his consciousness.

As per the local witnesses, Samrat Mukherjee seemed to have lost control, and after he hit that 29-year-old man, he crashed the nearby house by damaging the boundary wall. The actor then was taken under police custody, and several investigations have been going on, including Samrat's medical examination, intoxication, and vehicle malfunction among others.

For the unversed, Samrat was arrested on the charges of reckless driving and causing serious injury through negligence. The development of this case still awaits, and the seriousness of this matter can cause and determine the actor with several penalties such as fines, dismission of the driving license, and more due to reckless driving and negligence while doing it.
