Born in Kolkata, Kalyani hails from an affluent Bengali family that was deeply rooted in their cultural heritage, and she was introduced to art. Initially, Kalyani pursued a career in marketing and journalism and worked for The Indian Express. But soon, she found her niche in luxury fashion. When she started her own leather goods exporting company, Kalyani tied up with international brands like Zara, Jimmy Choo, and Harrods.
Kalyani played an important role in establishing Dior in India. In 2006, she joined the luxury brand Dior and spread its marketing all over India. The former Vice President of Dior, Kalyani, is also an art gallery owner, a garment exporter, and a co-founder of Lulu and Sky. She also owns the luxury home decor brand, Rezon Luxury Silverware.
Kalyani Chawla’s ex-husband, Vishal Chawla is the director of Ravissant. In 1995, Kalyani Saha met Vishal Chawla, when she shifted her base from Kolkata to Delhi. While she was making leather handicrafts, he was exporting them. The duo turned their partnership into marriage and tied the knot. Within a few years, their business boomed as they made heavy profits.
While Vishal focussed on the creative side, Kalyani managed the marketing. In an interview with Business Standard, Kalyani talked about collaborating with Vishal and said:
“In 1995, I met Vishal he was exporting leather handicrafts and I was making them. Since marketing was my forte and creativity his, we decided to pool together our resources.”
However, soon, cracks started appearing in their relationship, and they parted ways. The couple has a daughter named Tahira Tara Chawla, who currently works in London. Despite parting ways, Kalyani and Vishal are cordial to one another and co-parent their daughter.
Kalyani Saha and Vishal Chawla parted ways when their daughter, Tahira, was just two years old. However, as per a report in Deccan Chronicle, their divorce was acrimonious and long. The reports also claim that Kalyani did not ask for any alimony for herself, but demanded her daughter’s future to be secure. Kalyani reportedly asked her father-in-law, Ravi Chawla, to provide a 3BHK flat and educational expenses for Tahira to study abroad.

Though Kalyani and Vishal’s divorce was acrimonious, the couple is now on friendly terms. Sharing a throwback picture with Vishal from Tahira’s first birthday on her IG handle, Kalyani mentioned and penned a long note about her separation. An exert from her note can be read as:
“This was taken at Tahira's first birthday. Her father and I may not have lasted as a happily ever after but we remain friends and co-parents to what is both our first priority, our daughter. Marriages are made in heaven only to some times come crashing down to earth. Be independent financially. It's the only way I survived. And made sure Tahira got the best education and lacked nothing at all. More importantly, we as parents never wavered as far as Tahira was concerned. Every relationship and situation has it's permutation. But children can't suffer the sins of parents.”
Kalyani Saha is one of the most affluential names in Delhi, who has carved her own path and written her own destiny.
