Karan Johar is one of the most successful filmmakers in Bollywood. He has directed successful films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name Is Khan, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, among others. The filmmaker, known for his impeccable directing abilities, has garnered much attention for his style and unfiltered personality. Despite the success on his professional front, he faces relatable parent problems as his kids aren't sure what work he does.
Karan Johar welcomed twins, a son, Yash and daughter, Roohi, via surrogacy in February 2017. Since then, he has left no stone unturned in being a great father to them. Recently, he was seen in a new episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show season 2, where he shared that his kids don't know what he does to earn money. The filmmaker said he tried to explain that he is a director, but they got confused because they saw him on-screen. He was quoted as saying:
"They don't know what I do. I have told them that I am a director. They come back and ask me if the director is typically behind the camera… Because they see me on the television. I tell them about what I do. Once somebody asked them, 'what does your dad do', and they said, 'We are very confused. We don't know what he does'. They really don't know."
Karan added that his kids are his biggest trolls at home. They aren't shy about expressing their disapproval. Further, he explained that they even find it funny and confusing when he is getting ready with the help of a costume designer. In his words:
"They are my biggest trolls… So, why should I fear others when I have my kids."
Parenthood is an important milestone in any person's life and comes with many new experiences. So, it often changes people, and Karan went through the same. In the show, he admitted becoming more considerate after becoming a father. Also, he recalled how he even devised illogical stories for his kids because they loved animals. In his words:
"Now, I have started to think more about the future. I consider everything for my kids that I need to establish a path for their future. Secondly, I am a part of two WhatsApp groups with all the mothers. Yash and Roohi are in different divisions. So, I communicate with 60 mothers daily."
A few months ago, Karan appeared on Faye D'Souza's YouTube channel and discussed the hardships of being a single parent. Karan has been looking after his kids with his 81-year-old mother. But, the director explained how his kids are curious about their mother after looking at other families. Karan confessed he doesn't know how to answer them and is taking help from school counsellors for it.
