Alia Bhatt is one of the most versatile actresses in Bollywood. The Gangubai Kathiawadi actress made her acting debut in Karan Johar's film, Student Of The Year, in 2012. Since then, Alia and Karan have shared a special bond. The two have always been vocal about their love and respect for each other. Alia completed ten years in Bollywood this year, and her relationship with Karan has been the same.
The ace filmmaker, Karan Johar often expresses his feelings about Alia on his chat show, Koffee With Karan, season 7. However, netizens repeatedly questioned Karan's relationship with Alia. Once again, netizens have targeted the Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani filmmaker over his bond with Alia. However, this time, Karan opted to finally open up about getting online hate for his relationship with Alia Bhatt.

In an interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Karan Johar recently talked about his bond with Alia Bhatt. In one of the segments of the show, Karan was asked to comment on his equation with Alia and how he reacted when she revealed her pregnancy news to him. The filmmaker expressed his fondness for Alia and explained that he is allowed to love someone despite the hate he gets on social media. Elaborating on the same, Karan said:
"I think Alia and I just make each other cry. I see a lot of hate for the relationship both of us share like, online when I look. I don't know why people get so annoyed. I am allowed to love somebody from my heart."
In the same interview, Karan also revealed how he felt parental about Alia. He shared that he loves and respects her and added that he is allowed to vent his heart out. In his words:
"She's the first person I felt parental about. She's the first person I felt like I had a parental instinct for. I love her and the country knows she's one of our finest actors. I have a tremendous amount of love, respect and admiration and I am allowed to say what I want about her. So, if I cry at her good news and I really feel good then I am allowed to. I am like a parent to her. Why should I be pretending for optics. I genuinely love her and I want to say it all the time."

Earlier, in an interview with Etimes, Karan had spilt how Alia broke her news of pregnancy with Ranbir Kapoor to him. He shared that he began to cry soon after he learned that Alia would be a mother soon. In Karan's words:
"I cried. She came to my office. I remember having a bad hair day, and I was sitting in a hoodie with cap. And she told me this. And my first reaction was, tears just came out, and Alia came and gave me a hug. I remember saying, 'I can't believe you are having a baby'. It feels like your baby is having a baby. It was a very emotional moment for me, it still is!"
Meanwhile, on Alia's birthday on March 15, 2022, Karan had taken to his IG handle and shared a poster of Alia's upcoming film, Brahmastra. While sharing the picture, the filmmaker penned a heartfelt message for Alia. The note could be read as:
"My darling Alia, There is so much love that I feel for you while I write this but also so much respect - respect for your immense talent, your incredible growth as an artist and your ability to be so real through all the beats of your life! 10 years ago I didn't know that one day I could proudly call you my very own Brahmastra...my weapon of love and of abundant joy...Happy birthday my darling, shine bright always. Thank you for being YOU and for being the wind beneath the wings of this labour of love. I love you always and forever."
On the work front, Karan Johar's film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh will release on February 10, 2023.
