Karan Johar has made a brand out of his name in Bollywood and has been making films for decades now. On November 8, 2021, Karan Johar received the fourth-highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri award, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. President, Ram Nath Kovind honoured the filmmaker with the title and the medal.
Karan Johar had debuted in the Hindi film industry with the film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Kajol and Salman Khan, and since then, he never had to look back. Karan and his Dharma Production house have been giving us superhit films, one after the other.

Today, on November 9, 2021, Karan took to his Instagram handle to share his gratitude towards his family and fans. He posted a couple of pictures and penned a beautiful note along with it. In the photos, we can see Karan wearing his black suit and flaunting the medal, while in another picture, we can see him posing with his mother, Hiroo Johar. In the caption, he has also mentioned how his kids reacted to his big honour. He wrote:
"About last evening…. A truly memorable moment in my life….. I knew I would have made my father so proud and was so happy to have my mom there by my side…. My babies asked me “ dada you won a medal? “ and I replied “yes I did I hope you do too one day “!! The #padmashri … Humbled and honoured. thank you @manishmalhotra05 for styling the evening for me…."
As soon as Karan posted the pictures, Bollywood celebrities from Shilpa Shetty Kundra to Shweta Bachchan to Mouni Roy to Neha Dhupia, chimed in to congratulate the director in the comment section.

But, Anil Kapoor had something special to add on. He commented with a few hearts and hugs emoticons:
“Dad must be so proud of you up there in heaven Karan .. lots of love and hugs always.."

Karan also posted a small clip from the special evening while receiving the award. Sharing the video, Karan penned down a caption with his heartfelt gratitude and poured his love into it. The caption can be read as:
“Today felt surreal! I am honoured and humbled that the prestigious Padma Shri Award was bestowed on me. I feel extremely fortunate to receive it from the hands of our honourable President Shri Ram Nath Kovind. This is a momumental day for me, my mother, my kids and my company, and will forever be etched in my memory. Thank you so much for all your wishes and the abundance of love!"
For the unversed, in 2017, Karan Johar had welcomed his twin babies, a son and a daughter, Yash and Roohi, through surrogacy, and he shares a beautiful bond with them. Karan often takes his Instagram profile to share a few glimpses of him with his kids.
On the work front, Karan Johar is busy working on his next movie, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, with the most energetic duo, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Well, congratulations, Karan!
