Karan Patel is one of the most popular actors in the entertainment industry. He has proven his mettle in acting by working in popular soap operas like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Kasturi, Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Gumraah - End of Innocence, Kahanii Ghar Ghar Kii and many more. The actor is all set for his upcoming Bollywood movie Darran Chhoo, which is produced by his wife Ankita Bhargava. Karan has went through various turmoils in his personal and professional life. And now, he opened up about his past mistakes, carrying the baggage of being a star and much more.
In a candid conversation with Pinkvilla, Karan Patel opened up about his quest to become a star. Talking about the same, the actor mentioned that in order to achieve something, one has to be ready to lose something. He also stated that just like his inspiration, Shah Rukh Khan, he is also not attached to anything that is mediocre. In his words:
"Honestly, I haven't lost anything in my quest to become a star. If you want to become a star, you can't be attached to too many things. I mean, you should be ready to lose and move ahead because that is the destination, and this is the part of your journey. You need to decide what you want and then not crib. This comes from my inspiration (Shah Rukh Khan). He had clearly stated that he is not attracted to anything 'mediocre' as he has worked hard to achieve the stardom."

Further, Karan added that, according to him, he has not lost anything being a star. The actor also talked about learning from his past mistakes and stated that he always makes sure not to repeat his mistakes. Elaborating more on it, he said:
"You spend half of your life working hard and wanting to be famous and then you crib about missing a 'normal' life; I feel, that's hypocrisy So, I feel, I have only gained and not lost anything being a 'star'. I've made many mistakes but I also made sure to learn from my mistakes and not repeat them. I don't repeat my mistakes, I make newer ones."
In the same conversation, Karan also talked about the darkest phase of his life. The actor revealed that his serial, Kasturi was shut down because of him. He added that he thought of himself as a big person and a superstar, and that became the reason for the show shelved. Mentioning that he didn't get work for more than 2 years, Karan said that people didn't want to work with him because of his behaviour. In his words:
"It has been the darkest phase of my life. Kasturi had shut for a reason and the reason was me. Not many people know about this, but I was erratic during that phase. I thought I was too big for my boots. I was a superstar. I thought mere bina show chalega nahi only to have the show shut. For around two and a half or three years, I was out of work. People thought that I was on a break but I was not; people didn't want to offer me work because of what I'd done."
