2020 has introduced us to a life where staying away from our loved ones is the need of the hour and a way to show that we care for them. A life with masked faces and social distancing even with our family members have let us step into the ‘new normal’. The occasions and festivals have become less special as we cannot celebrate it with family and friends. But when it comes to love, distance doesn’t matter. Even miles apart, the occasions can be made special and fun. In the digital age we are living in, the best way to make a day special is to express your feelings on social media. As Sharmila Tagore turned 76 on December 8, 2020, her children have taken to their social media handles to wish her and make her day super-special. Last year, in 2019, the Pataudi clan had come together to celebrate the special day and had planned a getaway to Ranthambore. But this year, due to the pandemic, the celebrations are not as big as 2019. But the family left no stone unturned to make Sharmila Tagore feel special on her 76th birthday. The first wish came from Sharmila’s eldest daughter, Saba Ali Khan, who revealed her favourite memory with her amma. Saba posted a picture of the magazine cover in which the mother-daughter duo had posed together and were all smiles for the camera. Saba captioned the post as “HAaPpY Birthday... My favourite memory of us! Lots of love...” Saba also posted an IG story with a collage of Sharmila’s pictures and added a ‘Happy Birthday’ sticker on it.
The second wish came from Sharmila Tagore’s son-in-law, Kunal Kemmu, who posted an IG story to wish his mother-in-law. Kunal posted a picture with Sharmila from the last year’s birthday celebrations, adding a ‘Happy Birthday’ sticker on it. Kareena Kapoor Khan too, wished her beautiful mother-in-law with a throwback monochrome picture of the veteran actress. Kareena captioned her post as “To one of the most coolest and strongest women I know... happy birthday my beautiful mother-in-law.” Soha Ali Khan posted an array of pictures of Sharmila’s birthday celebrations from every year. In an interview with SpotboyE, Sharmila Tagore had spoken about her grandchildren, Taimur Ali Khan and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu and how her life has changed with their presence. Sharmila remarked, “Yes, it certainly adds to my happiness, obviously. I do see them as much as I can. But not enough because we live in different cities. But I must say they re-energize me. There’s nothing like young children’s energy …They are always curious, and enthusiastic about many different things. So yes, being around Taimur and Inaaya makes me really happy. Though like I said, I wish I could be with them more often.” (Also Read: When Sharmila Tagore Talked About Son, Saif Ali Khan's Second Mother And Her Help In His Upbringing)

In an interview with the IANS, when Sharmila Tagore was asked if she has more time for her grandchildren than her children, she had retorted, “Yes that's true. I do have lots more time for my grandchildren, the kind of pressures on time that I tackled earlier are no more there though I do keep myself busy with professional commitments like the random ad here and a cinema conference there. But definitely I now have more time for not just my grandchildren but also my children. I have more time for our ancestral home in Pataudi also.” (Also Read: Kareena's 'Rare And Only' Picture With Mansoor Ali, Sharmila Tagore, Saif, Soha, Kunal In One Frame)
