Kareena Kapoor got married to the love of her life, Saif Ali Khan, at a time when actresses were believed to have a shelf life in the film industry. It was said that when a leading lady gets married, her career is over. But Kareena Kapoor Khan broke stereotypes and didn't let her marriage impact her career. While Bebo tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan at the peak of her career, she continued to rule the industry even after two children, Taimur and Jehangir.
In an interaction at The India Express event, Express Adda in Mumbai, Kareena Kapoor Khan recalled how she was advised against getting married as people claimed that it would put a full stop to her flourishing career. However, the actress followed her heart and didn't listen to what people had to say about her marriage with Saif Ali Khan. She said:

“Everyone was like if you get married your career might be over and it would take a beating. I was madly in love and I thought it is fine. If producers and directors would be like my career is over because I got married, then I think it’s maybe their loss. It’s a weird thing. I couldn’t believe it. I was like, ‘Okay, let’s see what happens.’ And I just did it.”

Speaking along the same lines, Kareena Kapoor also shared how she got some confidence from her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore, who is a celebrated actress herself. Heaping praises on her saasu maa, Bebo shared that the former told her not to believe in what people are saying and instead challenge herself. The actress added that she was always worried about balancing work and life as she wanted to work after marriage. In her words:
“My mother-in-law also gave me a lot of confidence because she did amazing movies like Daag, Waqt and such beautiful films that she did after Saif was born. So she was like, ‘Don’t fall for the fact that producers won’t (cast you).’ She was like, ‘Challenge yourself, challenge them, and it will happen.’ And I was confident about it. I was just always worried about balancing my life in terms of how I would balance marriage. I was most concerned about that because I was like, ‘I do want to work'.”
Kareena Kapoor also talked about her life after marriage and mentioned that she remained confident and didn’t fear anything. She added that the confidence she had in herself also led others to feel confident about her. Kareena also gave some credit to her actor-husband, Saif Ali Khan, who was always supportive of his wife to continue working after marriage. Talking about the same, Kareena said:
“I think that also led to people having a lot of confidence in me and me doing some good work after my marriage. Saif was relaxed as he comes from a family where women have always been at the forefront, be it his grandmother, his mother or his sisters.”

Kareena Kapoor set an example for many Bollywood actresses, including Deepika Padukone, Kiara Advani and Alia Bhatt, who tied the knot at the peak of their careers. Talking about becoming a flagbearer for others in the industry, Kareena mentioned how actresses didn't want to make their relationship public earlier. She added that being in love doesn’t dictate an actress’ choice of roles, Bebo said:
“I think it’s given a lot of girls confidence. Everybody started following suit and being a lot more confident. People earlier would not even talk about their relationships openly. There was a time when nobody wanted to be linked with anyone or the sight of having a relationship for a Bollywood actress was like, 'No'.”
Currently, Kareena Kapoor is all set to make her OTT debut with Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller, Jaane Jaan, alongside Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat.
