The shock of actor, Irrfan Khan’s death was so overpowering and we were coming in terms with it when the next day, news flashed the death of Rishi Kapoor tearing our hearts into pieces. Rishi Kapoor had won the tag of a quintessential romantic hero with movies like Bobby, Amar Akbar Anthony, Karz, Chandni, and many more. Whether it is Main Shayar To Nahi, Dard-E-Dil, Dard-E-Jigar, or Parda Hai Parda, the actor’s effortless performances in these cult songs had made him the chocolate boy of Bollywood, who was the dream man of every girl of that era. Coming from an illustrious family with four generations of stars, Rishi Kapoor was born to act. Although he had made his debut as a child actor in 1970 with the movie Mera Naam Joker, it was the sensational film Bobby, where his debut as the male lead had changed his life forever making him the romantic hero of all times.
With the Rishi ji’s death, the film fraternity has lost one of its biggest gems. Rishi Kapoor’s death has shaken the entire nation. From his close friends to family members, everyone is mourning his death. On April 30, 2020, Kareena Kapoor Khan was one of the first to rush to the hospital to be with her chacha’s family. She took to her Instagram handle and shared a video of Rishi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan enacting the famous song, Main Shayar To Nahi in Saif’s film, Hum Tum. The cult song was originally picturised on Rishi Kapoor from his film, Bobby opposite Dimple Kapadia.
Like every kid in the family, Kareena too shared a very strong bond with her Chintu chacha. After some hours of his death, she had taken to her Instagram handle and shared a throwback picture of Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor from their childhood days. In the picture, Randhir Kapoor had wrapped his arms around his brother, Rishi Kapoor and the two brothers looked adorable together. Along with the picture, she had written, “The best boys I know... After Rishi ji’s death, his wife, Neetu Kapoor had posted a family statement on her Instagram handle with a folding hand emoji as the caption. The statement can be read as "Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last. He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him. He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears. In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way."
