Karisma Kapoor Recalls Crying Before 'Dance Of Envy' Shoot With Madhuri Dixit, 'Main Kya Karu?'

Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor are hailed among the evergreen actresses of their generation in Bollywood. Though they were contemporaries, Karisma considered herself a fan of Madhuri, and there was no competition between them. The duo also won hearts with their effortless partnership in the film, Dil To Pagal Hai, and their famous 'Dance of Envy' remains fresh in our minds even today. Karisma, who is currently a judge on India's Best Dancer 4 alongside Geeta Kapur, and Terence Lewis, revealed that she wasn't confident about her dance face-off with Madhuri.

Karisma Kapoor was nervous to dance alongside Madhuri Dixit

During the episode, Karisma Kapoor recalled how she had rejected the opportunity when she was offered the film, Dil Toh Pagal Hai. The 50-year-old actress said that she doubted herself as she had no clue about how to dance alongside Madhuri Dixit. However, Aditya Chopra visited her again and narrated the script while her mom, Babita Kapoor, was sitting next to them. Karisma was already nervous and scared but her mom urged her to do this film. In her words:

"My mom was also there during the narration. Toh maine kaha ki main kya karu? She said ki main aapko keh rahi hun ki yeh film aapko karna hi chahiye. Fir jis din Dance of Envy ka shoot chal raha tha, I started crying shot ke pehle and I called my mother."

Karisma further recalled her conversation with her mother and shared the latter's reaction after she expressed her fears. The actress shared that Babita asked her to stop sulking and shoot for the segment, after which she immediately disconnected the call. Karisma began to cry even more, but she finally gathered the confidence. The Murder Mubarak actress wanted to prove to her mother, so she filmed for the 'Dance Of Envy' opposite Madhuri Dixit and nailed it.

A while back, Karisma Kapoor appeared on the reality show, Dance Deewane, as a special guest and joined the judges, Madhuri Dixit and Suniel Shetty. During the episode,  Madhuri and Karisma recreated their dance-off in their popular song, Dance of Envy, from the film, Dil To Pagal Hai. Both the divas set the stage on fire and they were seen pulling off the moves and poses effortlessly on the stage.

When Karisma revealed that she was on the verge of refusing Dil To Pagal Hai

Earlier, when Karisma Kapoor won a Filmfare award for her role of 'Nisha' in Dil To Pagal Hai, she revealed how she was on the verge of refusing the role initially. It so happened that nobody wished to feature in a dance film with such a tremendous dancer like Madhuri Dixit, and four other leading actresses had already declined the film. Explaining the reason for the same, she mentioned that she was also not ready for a competition dance with Madhuri Dixit, but her mother, Babita Kapoor, told her to take up the challenge and work hard.
