Karisma Kapoor, one of the leading actresses from the 90s, is a well-known name in Bollywood. Coming from one of the most prominent 'Kapoor Clan' in Bollywood, she continued her family's legacy in the film industry. Karisma gave back-to-back hits, worked with the leading stars, collaborated with top filmmakers, and achieved considerable success in entertainment industry. Despite having a busy and successful career, the actress has gradually slowed down her work. Karisma enjoys this calm and peace in life. Recently, she sat down for an interview with the Bombay Times and expressed how happy she has been with this new career phase.
Karisma was one of the leading commercial actresses in the '90s and early 2000s when her films made box office records. However, the actress is now happy being away from the limelight and feels no pressure on the uncertainty ahead. The Biwi No. 1 actress feels a change as the words like 'comeback' don't matter much. She was quoted as saying:
"I am so glad that times have changed for the better in so many ways. As I have always said, taking a break was a choice I made. I was happy being away from the limelight, and I am always happy to be away from the limelight – that's just my nature, even though I am an actress. If you ask me what's next, my answer is that I really don't know. I don't plan things, so I don't feel that pressure. Maybe I will act again, maybe I won't. That's the way I want to work, and I am happy doing that."

Karisma's passion for cinema or acting hasn't decreased despite her slow pace of doing films and uncertain future in Bollywood. Instead, she wants to work on projects that help her improve as an actor. Karisma shared that since the initial days of her career, she has been trying to find a balance between commercial and offbeat cinema. Reflecting on her intention, Karisma said:
"I was dissuaded by my well-wishers. In those days, it was called parallel cinema, art film, or art-house films. Of course, being in the top position and delivering hit films was part of the game. But for me, it was always about being recognised as a good artist. This is why, at the peak of my career, when I was delivering blockbusters with top actors, directors and producers, I chose to do these films ('Fiza' and 'Zubeidaa') because they satisfied something within me."
The popularity of OTT in the entertainment sector has brought new trends in Bollywood. Filmmakers and artists are experimenting with content on OTT, and new actors get a better chance to showcase their skills. The Hum Saath Saath Hain actress added that the present generation is lucky in this case due to the rise of OTT platforms.
