With the untimely death of actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, a debate on nepotism, mental health and depression have taken a new wave making it one of the most trending topics in Bollywood. Many celebrities have come forward to open up about their struggle with mental health and how they had come out of it. Whether it is Deepika Padukone, Shaheen Bhatt, Nushrratt Bharuccha or Varun Dhawan, all these celebs have opened up about their fight with the mental illness. And now, in the latest episode of Kartik Aaryan’s show, Koki Poochega, the young actor has debunked many myths surrounding mental health. Kartik Aaryan had garnered limelight with his famous monologue in his debut film, Pyaar Ka Punchnama. His debut film has got him much-needed recognition among the masses and has got him into Forbes India’s top 100 celebrity list in 2019. Kartik, who is extremely close to his mother and sister, often shares glimpses of their hilarious banters especially during his chat show, Koki Poochega. And the recent episode, where Kartik talked about mental health, gave us yet another sneak-peek of the fun banter of the brother-sister duo.
On July 22, 2020, Kartik Aaryan took to his social media handle and shared the recent episode of his chat show, Koki Poochega. In his recent episode, the actor discusses about the myths related to mental health with psychiatrist, Dr Geetha Jayaram from John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. Discussing the stigmas and the myths related to the illness, Kartik revealed that whenever he is angry over something, his mother would say, ‘let’s get him married’. The Love Aaj Kal actor asked Dr Geetha, whether his mother is right, to which the doctor laughed and said that many Indians think that marriage is the answer to everything.
Going further in the video, Kartik requests the doctor to keep his sister, Kritika, who is pursuing medicine, as her assistant. Kritika also makes an appearance in the video and enquires about her pay package and her travelling allowance to Baltimore. Continuing their hilarious banter, Kartik hands her Rs 20 as her travelling allowance. On April 1, 2020, Kartik's sister had turned a year older, and the actor had ignited his inner baker by donning a baker’s hat and had baked a special cake for her. While he went to the kitchen with the motive of baking a cake, he had revealed that the final result was more like a big biscuit. He had shared pictures on his Instagram handle, and had written, "Lockdown ka fayda - Celebrating Kittu’s bday together after 7 years. In the year 2018, Kartik had gotten the chance to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with his sister, Kritika after so many years. In an interview with the National Herald, Kartik had talked about the emotional moment and had shared, "I am in my home-town Gwalior. After six years I am in my home-town for Raksha Bandhan, and that too for work. I’m shooting for Dinesh Vijeyan’s Lukka Chuppi with Kriti Sanon in Gwalior.
