Kartik Aaryan Reveals How He'll Convince Sara Ali Khan's Abba, Saif Ali Khan To Accept Him As Damaad

Even before Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter, Sara Ali Khan had made her debut in Bollywood, she had skyrocketed to popularity. Not only for the fact that she hails from a royal Pataudi family and a clan full of celebrities, but also for her diligence, indomitable spirit and a humble attitude with confidence during the interviews and media interactions. And with her films, Kedarnath and Simmba, she proved her mettle as an actor too, convinced us that she is more than just a product of nepotism and is here to stay. (Also Read: Aadar Jain's Mom, Rima Jain Puts A Stamp Of Approval On His Rumoured Relationship With Tara Sutaria)

Whenever there’s a mention of Sara Ali Khan, it reminds us of her first ever interview with her abba, Saif Ali Khan on Karan Johar’s celebrity chat show, Koffee With Karan. How can we forget the honesty with which she had confessed her desire to date Kartik Aaryan on national television? Since then, the fans had rooted for SarTik (as everyone fondly call Sara and Kartik) and the wish finally got fulfilled when Imtiaz Ali played Cupid and roped the actors for his film, Love Aaj Kal.

Sara Ali Khan And Kartik Aaryan

To give you a recap, when Sara Ali Khan and Saif Ali Khan had appeared on Koffee With Karan, Karan Johar had asked the latter what he would ask from his daughter’s prospective boyfriend. To which, Saif had replied, “Political views, drugs." Karan had intervened and said, “Money would be a nice question to ask. I would ask that." Saif had jokingly replied, “Got cash? Take her." Later when Sara had admitted that she wants to marry Ranbir Kapoor and date Kartik Aaryan, Saif had instinctively asked, "Does he have the money? Got money, take her!"

So when Kartik Aaryan came on Koffee With Karan, Karan Johar probed him why he hasn’t asked Sara out on a date. To which, he had retorted, “So, what I'm doing is, sir, I'm just trying to, you know, earn more and more money right now. Saif (Ali Khan) sir said, 'Does he have the money?' So, I'm just..." Karan had continued, “And, you clearly don't have the money that can match the Prince of Pataudi.” Kartik had replied, “I don't know. She is a princess. So, you know, to ask her out on a date, you know, I would require a certain bank balance.” (Also Read: Shalabh Dang Surprises His Bride, Kamya Panjabi By Singing 'Tenu Leke' As She Walks Down The Aisle)

Now a year later, Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan are all set to spread their magic on-screen with Imtiaz Ali film, Love Aaj Kal. And during the promotions of the film, in a chat session with Bollywood Hungama, the journalist asked Kartik if he was ever stuck in an elevator with Saif Ali Khan and had 30 seconds to convince him to accept him as his son-in-law, what would he say to him? Kartik's reply left Sara in splits as he wittily replied that he would not say anything to him and just make the 'money' gesture (reference to Koffee With Karan) and say that he now has enough money in his bank account.

In an interview with The Times of India, Saif Ali Khan had commented on the chemistry between Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan. He was quoted as saying, “Both of them are tremendously popular actors. I'm sure you know people are going to flock to see the movie. With my daughter, I tried to crack a mildly competitive joke. I'm saying I kind of liked our more but obviously this is a completely different movie. And I don't think it's perhaps right to compare but, of course, the producers have chosen the same name and I am quite possessive over our film. I don’t want to come across the wrong way because of course what I said was a joke. A little bit of teasing is good.”

Sara Ali Khan and Saif Ali Khan

In an interview with India West, when Sara Ali Khan was asked, “You know Kartik pretty well. Does that shape your on-screen chemistry?” she had retorted, “Not at all! I think that on-screen has nothing to do with how well I know Kartik. Since I know him, we have more fun, but our on-screen characters only reflect a strong director with a strong idea. Love is a journey, filmmaking too is a journey, and what happens on sets was the result of work-shopping with Kartik, reading with him, and understanding what he was doing as my co-star. Yes, he gave me more cues than any of my co-actors, and I am grateful for that because it kept me happy, and in a good mental space.” (Also Read: Soha Ali Khan's Daughter Inaaya Naumi Kemmu Aiming To Reach Her Balloons Proves That Sky's The Limit)
