South actress, Keerthy Suresh had much to be thankful for as she bid adieu to 2024. Not only did the actress mark her Bollywood debut with Varun Dhawan-starrer, Baby John, last year, but she also embarked on the greatest adventure of her life with her long-time beau, Antony Thattil. Yes, Keerthy and Antony finally tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in Goa on December 12, 2024, after dating for 15 long years. On her big day, Keerthy looked absolutely stunning in a saree draped in traditional South Indian style. Recently, the actress revealed the most heartwarming detail about her D-day attire when she stated that it had originally belonged to her beloved mother.
For her wedding, Keerthy Suresh wore a dark red saree with intricate silver work throughout. The combination of red and silver added an air of regal elegance to Keerthy’s look for the day. She paired it with a beautifully matching blouse featuring a round neckline and half-sleeves. The blouse’s back design had a cutout detail that added a touch of modernity to her otherwise traditional look.
Keerthy further added a contemporary touch to her traditional ensemble with her statement accessories. She opted for a heavily embellished necklace, maang tikka, and earrings featuring stones and red gemstones, which perfectly complemented the red hues of her saree. Keerthy embraced a traditional South Indian bridal look by styling her hair in a sleek bun. She added further charm with gajra, a classic addition most South Indian brides are seen adorning.
Recently, in an interview with Galatta India, Keerthy shared the sweetest anecdote about her wedding day ensemble. Keerthy’s dark red saree had, in fact, belonged to her mother and had been lovingly refurbished after 30 years by Anita Dongre ahead of Keerthy’s D-day. The adorning of her mother’s saree after over 3 decades symbolised Keerthy walking into married life with her mother’s blessings. On the other hand, its refurbished design and the statement accessories she paired with it added a fresh and unique touch to the otherwise timeless ensemble.
Further in the interview, Kerrthy Suresh revealed whether she had planned to wear the saree all along or had made the decision spontaneously. Interestingly, the actress revealed that she had initially thought of wearing a saree that had been gifted by her groom, Antony Thattil’s side of the family. However, she still needed one more outfit for the initial rituals. As luck would have it, Keerthy stumbled upon her mother’s saree as she was rifling through her closet. She was impressed at how well her mother had preserved the saree over all these years, and it immediately dawned on her that this had to be her wedding saree.

During the same interview with Galatta, Keerthy Suresh opened up about her relationship with Antony Thattil, which had lasted over a decade before culminating in marriage. The couple successfully kept their relationship under wraps for the entirety of that duration, with only a few industry friends being privy to it. However, the newly married Keerthy, seemingly ready to talk about their love story, shared the most interesting tidbit about how their relationship blossomed. She revealed that she was the one to hit on Antony first! Keerthy can be quoted as saying:
"We go back to Orkut days, I took the initiative to hit on this guy. We were chatting for a good one month before we met at a restaurant. I was with my family, and I couldn't meet him, so I winked at him and left. Later, I said, if you have the guts, propose to me, dude. He first proposed to me in 2010, and things got serious in 2016. He gave me a promise ring I never removed till we got married, you can even see it in all my films."
