Eminent filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently announced a grand film titled Love And War, which would be a homage to the old movie, Sangam. The film will feature Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. While this will be Vicky's first time working with SLB, Ranbir and Alia, on the other hand, have previously worked with the director. However, many don’t know that Karan Johar had also promised Ranveer Singh that he would remake Sangam with the latter, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor.
Back in 2023, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone made an appearance on Karan Johar's renowned celebrity talk show, Koffee With Karan 8. During the rapid-fire segment on the show, Karan asked Ranveer, "In a love triangle featuring you and Deepika, which male actor would you not mind being cast as the third character?" To this, the actor jokingly reminded Karan about his long-standing desire to remake Sangam with himself, Deepika, and Ranbir Kapoor, and said:

"Ranbir. You wanted to make Sangam with the three of us. What happened to that? Deenge maarte ho tum Karan Johar, banate kuchh nahi ho. Violent action banaunga, massy action banaunga tumhare sath."

Reacting to Ranveer's statement, Karan also expressed his eagerness to work on that project and said, "Yes". The filmmaker turned to Deepika, who had a past relationship with Ranbir, and asked her about her willingness to participate in the film, saying, “Sign it?”. To this, Deepika said, “Done.” Karan further added:
“I am dying to make it.”
Now, a video from the same segment has been going viral on social media, and netizens have reacted to it. While some social media users felt bad for Ranveer and Deepika, others slammed Karan Johar for not announcing the movie until now. Meanwhile, a user also claimed that Ranveer was the first choice of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but the actor got offended when the latter went to Ranbir first. Check out the comments below:

For the unversed, Sangam (1964), was directed and produced by Ranbir Kapoor's grandfather, Raj Kapoor. The movie featured a love triangle with Raj Kapoor, Vyjayanthimala, and Rajendra Kumar. The blockbuster hit was the most expensive Indian film of its time and also one of the first ones to be shot abroad. Sangam had a duration of 238 minutes, which made it one of the longest-running Indian films at that time.
