Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya announced their separation on October 2021, four days before their fourth wedding anniversary. Telangana minister, Konda Surekha's remarks linking Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's separation to BRS leader, KTR sparked significant controversy. Leading figures in the Telugu film industry have severely reacted against Konda Surekha's statements.
The politician, Konda Surekha has connected President, KT Rama Rao of Bharat Rashtra Samiti to Chay-Sam’s divorce. Konda Surekha claimed that it was KT Rama Rao who was responsible for Samantha’s divorce, stating that he was a minister at the time and would tap the phones of actresses to find their weaknesses in order to blackmail them. She alleged that KT Rama Rao would make them drug addicts and then exploit them.

She also asserted that everyone, including Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, and his family was aware that such things had happened. However, KT Rama Rao lodged a defamation case against Konda Surekha. Here's what Konda Surekha said:
“It is KT Rama Rao because of whom (actress) Samantha’s divorce happened… He was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of the actresses and then find their weaknesses to blackmail them… He used to make them drug addicts and then do this… Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family—everybody is aware that such a thing happened.”
However, Konda Surekha took the statement back after receiving a lot of negative feedback. In response to Sam’s remarks on social media, Konda posted and clarified that her comments were intended to question a leader’s belittling of women and were not meant to hurt Samantha Prabhu’s sentiments. She expressed that her growth through self-empowerment was not only admirable to her but also ideal. She also stated that if she or her fans were offended by her comments, she would unconditionally retract them and urged them not to think otherwise.

Allu Arjun stated that he strongly condemned Konda Surekha's baseless derogatory comments about the film personalities and film families. He expressed that such behavior was deeply disrespectful and went against the values of their Telugu culture. He said, “I strongly condemn the baseless derogatory comments made about film personalities and film families. This behaviour is deeply disrespectful and goes against the values of our Telugu culture".
Junior NTR said that including private matters in political disputes is a new low. He emphasized that public figures, especially in responsible positions, should uphold dignity and respect for privacy, expressing disappointment over the careless circulation of baseless statements about the film industry.
In a glitzy industry where women are largely considered as props, Samantha Ruth Prabhu stated that it takes a lot of guts and fortitude for a woman to survive. She stated that she is proud of her journey and urged Konda Surekha Garu not to trivialize it. She reminded her that her words as a minister carried weight and requested her to respect individuals’ privacy, asking her to refrain from speculating about his personal divorce and clarifying that their choice for privacy should not invite misrepresentation.
