Kumar Sanu's Wife Once Smashed Kunickaa Sadanand's Car, Says, 'I Considered Him Like My Husband...'

Kumar Sanu, born Kedarnath Bhattacharya, was one of the most celebrated singers of the '90s. Apart from having one of the finest voices in the industry, the singer is also skilled in multiple languages and has sung in Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Urdu, Pali, English and Tamil, among several other languages. Kumar Sanu holds the record for winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for five consecutive years from '91 to '95.

Kumar Sanu was depressed and suicidal, revealed Kunickaa Sadanad 

Kumar Sanu allegedly had an extramarital affair with actress, Kunickaa Sadanand at the peak of his career. Now, in a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Kunickaa sat for a candid conversation and revealed insights into her alleged relationship with the singer. She shared that when she met Kumar Sanu, she was still new to the entertainment industry, finding her foot as an actress, and was attracted to him. She further shared that they were in Ooty when she and the singer developed a strong connection. For the unversed, Kunickaa was shooting in Ooty while the singer was there for a vacation.

During the conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Kunickaa revealed that Kumar Sanu was in an exceedingly difficult relationship with his then-wife, Rita. She recalled that his sister and nephew accompanied him on the trip. However, things took a turn when Kumar Sanu sat for a drink with everyone and suddenly started crying. She explained that the singer got drunk and even tried jumping off his hotel room window. She further added that, though unfortunate, the incident brought them closer. She was quoted saying:

"He started crying, and he wanted to jump from the hotel’s window. He was very depressed. We held him down."

In the same conversation, actress, Kunickaa Sadanand revealed that upon their return from Ooty, Kumar Sanu started living separately from his wife. She added that it was after their separation that their relationship bloomed into something meaningful. They lived close to each other, and she started guiding him in fitness and fashion. Kunickaa mentioned that even though their relationship lasted five years, they never made it public in Mumbai. Talking about her bond with Kumar Sanu, she stated:

"I was like a wife to him. I considered him like my husband."

Kunickaa further revealed that Kumar Sanu’s wife was quite upset with him after their separation. The actress cited the reason for his ex-wife's dismay as Kumar Sanu's failure to give her money for the kids on time, for which she blamed Kunickaa. She shared that once she was angry with her, she even smashed her car with a hockey stick. She stated:

"His wife smashed my car with a hockey stick. She would come outside my house and scream. But I understood her. She wanted money for her children, she wasn’t wrong. She said she didn’t want him back."

For the unversed, Kumar Sanu shared three kids with Rita. Kunickaa Sadanand and Kumar Sanu eventually broke up. The singer eventually moved on and found love once again. He married his present wife, Saloni, and welcomed two daughters together.
