Kusha Kapila is a popular social media influencer. She has also proved her acting skills in films, Thank You For Coming and Sukhee. She will next be seen in the film, Life Hill Gayi. For some time now, Kusha has been leading the headlines after Samay Raina took nasty potshots at her and poked fun at her divorce from her ex-husband, Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia. While Kusha reacted to the roast in a strong manner, she also dropped a cryptic note on her IG handle.
On July 23, 2024, Kusha Kapila took to her Instagram Stories and dropped a cryptic post, days after Samay Raina roasted her. Her post talked about how people try to disempower a person with their garbage. Though Kusha did not name anyone, she made it clear that she was not going to tolerate their negativity. Sharing the post, she added the song, Move, by Curtis Mayfield. Kusha wrote:

“When someone’s trying to disempower you, it’s their garbage. It’s not yours to store. Let it slide off you.”

A few days back, Kusha Kapila took to her YouTube community space and penned down her two cents about Samay Raina's brutal roast. She mentioned that the roast was an unpaid collaboration done in good faith for entertainment purposes. However, everything was a surprise to her as she wasn't expecting those mean comments and nasty digs coming from one of her friends. In her words:
“Jokes weren’t shared beforehand (as it’s done in all roast formats in the West) so I had no idea what was in store for me. Maybe I should have asked for a script and known better but since friends were involved I didn’t. Rookie mistake. While I endured some of the really raspy jokes in front of a live audience and technicians, I absolutely was not okay for it to play for millions of people since some jokes straight-up dehumanised me. It was shockingly unkind.”
Kusha Kapila and Samay Raina, along with many other comedians, roasted each other on the new series, Pretty Good Roast Show S1. During one of the episodes, Samay passed nasty comments on Kusha. Taking a dig at Kusha's personal life and divorce, Samay said that the former lives in a broken home. She owns a pet dog, Maya, who is unhappy with her but lives joyfully with Zorawar. Samay further asked Kusha to send Maya to Zorawar so that the furry pet could live with her ex blissfully. He also made some nasty comments on his fellow comedian's sex life, which the show censored.

Earlier, Kusha Kapila hosted an AMA session on Instagram, and a social media user asked the actress how she handled the brutal roast of Samay Raina. Responding to the fan's query, Kusha shared that she has restricted phrases like Samay Raina, Aashish Solanki, and dark humour from her Instagram feed. The actress also penned a note, mentioning that she is still not able to process her divorce fully and will talk about it someday. Her note could be read as:
“Not my first time on the rodeo. In the large scheme of things, nothing matters. Probably when I have processed all of it, will speak about it on a level-headed podcast (lol do we have any) or maybe never. We will see. This profile continues to be a safe space for my female and queer followers.”
