Late legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar was born on September 28, 1929, and is one of the greatest playback singers of all time. Lata Mangeshkar was one of the most respected celebrities in the Indian film and music industry. From recording songs in 36 Indian languages to being bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989, Lata Mangeshkar was the first Indian to perform at Royal Albert Hall, London.

According to various reports, Lata Mangeshkar's lifetime earnings include her lavish home on Pedder Road in South Mumbai named Prabhu Kunj Bhawan, some luxurious cars like a Chevrolet, Buick and a Chrysler, and all the royalties and her investments. While some claim that Lata’s net worth is around Rs 360 crore, others suggest it is around 108-115 crores.
The legendary singer had worked restlessly in her illustrious career spanning seven decades. With titles like Nightingale of India, Queen of Melody, Voice of the Millenium and many more, Lata Mangeshkar's legacy clearly justifies her gigantic net worth. Since Lata Mangeshkar did not marry and had no kids, she is left behind by her siblings.
As her brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar had performed her last rites, it is speculated that he will be inheriting the late singer's property. However, there is no official confirmation.

For the unversed, Lata Mangeshkar was extremely close to her brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar and time and again, we have seen her talking about their beautiful bond and heaping praises on her little brother for always being there for her. Not only Lata Mangeshkar, the doting brother, Hridaynath had also always spoken highly of his sister. For instance, in an interview with Filmfare, Hridaynath had credited his sister, Lata Mangeshkar, for teaching him things like self-respect and how to kill one's ego. Hridaynath had admitted that these lessons are way bigger than the teachings of music that he had received from his gurus. He had said:
"I learnt sangeet from my gurus but how to preserve one's swabhimaan (self-respect), how to kill pride and arrogance, all this I learnt from her... I have watched her closely for all these years. She has been on the top... yet believes that she has achieved nothing; rather it's the energy that has made it all possible."

After Lata Mangeshkar's demise on February 6, 2022, she was cremated with full state honour at Mumbai's Shivaji Park. Many renowned celebrities had gathered there to bid their last goodbye to the legend. Songs sung by her are playing at the Shivaji Park. It was Lata Mangeshkar's brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, who had lit the pyre of his sister at 7.16 pm on the same day. The doting brother had looked devastated while fulfiling the last rites and was supported by his son, Adinath Mangeshkar.
Lata Mangeshkar will never be forgotten for the kind of humble person and exceptional singer she was!
