Sridevi Kapoor will remain in our hearts forever and will always be remembered for her on-screen roles and off-screen charisma. On May 3, 2018, the Government of India felicitated late Sridevi with the National Award in the Best Actress category for her prominent performance in her last film, Mom. Sridevi Kapoor’s husband, Boney Kapoor and daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor went to Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi to receive the award. When Sridevi’s name was announced at the National Award ceremony, Boney broke down and then, he went to the stage along with his daughters, Janhvi and Khushi. Sridevi’s award was given by President, Ram Nath Kovind and Information and Broadcasting and Textiles Minister, Smriti Irani.
For the 65th National Film Awards, the proud daughter wore her mother’s beautiful saree and looked as pretty as her mother. Sridevi’s favourite designer and close friend, Manish Malhotra mentioned on his Instagram account that Janhvi wore Sridevi’s saree from her personal collection for this big day. Sridevi wore this pink and white kanjeevaram saree at actor Ram Charan's wedding in 2013. Even though with some minor changes in the saree, Janhvi proved that she is the reflection of her mother. While originally Sridevi wore this saree with a sleeveless blouse and matching necklace and earrings, her daughter Janhvi wore cropped sleeves blouse and her jhumka was her only accessory. Manish shared the picture of Janhvi and captioned it, "The very pretty @janhvikapoor as she goes to Receive Sridevi Ma’am’s Much Deserved National Award for her fabulous performance in Mom’ ... An Actress and a human being and the friend that we all miss every day of our life’s ... #jhanvikapoor in her Moms personal Saree for this emotional and precious moment."

Sridevi’s youngest daughter, Khushi chose Manish Malhotra ensemble for the occasion and wore a mauve traditional weave lehenga, which she paired with a matching blouse and a baby pink dupatta worn in the South Indian style. Khushi’s hair was half tied up and a tiny black bindi complemented her look. Expressing their gratitude to the National Film Awards jury, Boney, Janhvi and Khushi released a joint statement which could be read as, "We are overjoyed to know that the Jury has conferred the Best Actor Award to Sridevi for her performance in ‘MOM’. It’s a very special moment for all of us. She was always a perfectionist and it showed in all the 300 plus films she did. She was not just a Super Actor but a Super Wife and a Super Mom. It’s time to celebrate her life and her achievements. She is not with us today, but her legacy will always live on. We thank the Government of India, the Hon’ble Jury Members for this honor. We also take this opportunity to thank all our friends, her fans who have been sending us congratulatory messages. Thank you, Janhvi, Khushi & Boney Kapoor." And later, Boney Kapoor talked about his late wife’s achievements and legacy, and stated to Mid-Day, "Today, we, as a family, do not know whether we should celebrate or not. We don't know if we should feel elated, laugh with joy, or cry while remembering her. The National Award has come posthumously, but it's something we cherish while remembering her for the artiste that she was. She was a perfectionist, and that was evident in all the 300-plus films she did. It's time to celebrate her achievements. Her legacy will always live on." While interacting with the DD News, Boney Kapoor remarked, "It is a very proud moment at the same time… we miss her. She would have been very happy being here. Aur kya bolu? (What else do I say?)" He further added, “We just feel elated, proud that she is being recognised for the hard work she has put in this film. Boney Kapoor is happy that Sridevi’s films will always entertain people and said, "Thanks to the films and thanks to the Television channels and satellite channels, the digital era, she will continue entertaining people forever as long as entertainment industry exists and as long as this media exists, she will continue entertaining everybody." He further continued, "This is what the youngsters should keep in mind once they make a mark, they remain in limelight. And to be in limelight, they have to put in the hard work like she did."
Boney Kapoor is planning to make a film on Sridevi, and confirming the news to the Mid-Day, he revealed, “I have registered three titles, but I cannot categorically reveal what they are. It’s too premature to talk about it.” He added, “There are plans to make a film, but I can’t tell you whether it will be a biopic or documentary. I don’t see the need to rush into anything. Speaking to the ANI, Boney Kapoor was quoted as saying, “I'm extremely happy & proud. This is what she's got after working for 50 years in the industry, she would've cherished this award all her life. This's the highest honour. We miss her & today we miss her even more.”
Sridevi Kapoor gave five decades to the film industry and she truly deserved the felicitation.
