But not even his parents in their wildest dreams had imagined that one day their son would go on to direct iconic films and shows like Murder, Gangster, Life in a… Metro, Barfi!, Ajeeb Dastaan, Kyun Ki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, and many others.
However, Anurag Basu isn't just a director, as he's also a screenwriter, producer, scriptwriter, and had also acted in some movies too. But there's no doubt in saying the fact that he is one of the best directors of all-time in terms of bringing romance in it's truest form on the big screen. Not many people are aware that it was Anurag's love life with his wife, Tani that had helped him greatly in terms of bringing the magic of love in his films with such ease. According to a report in The Times Of India, Anurag Basu is famous for directing and bringing the true essence of love and romance on the big screen with so much realism and beauty because he was a great lover himself. Once the filmmaker was in Guwahati, Assam and was directing a documentary film there. The filmmaker was aware of his boss, Tani's name but had never seen her face, that's where the Cupid had planted his trap of love.
One day, after a hectic schedule at work, Anurag had gone to an official dinner with all of his cast, crew, producers, and others in a five-star hotel. There were a lot of elite people and some delegates from across the world in the hotel. When Anurag had heard that fish is on the menu, he had gotten excited, and one look at it had made his mouth water. But like most of the Indians, Anurag was against the idea of eating a fish with fork and knife, as he was a true Bengali at heart. That was the moment when he had seen Tani for the first time and seeing her savouring fish with her hands like a real Indian made him instantly fall in love with her.
The Ludo director, Anurag Basu was impressed by her confidence and will to follow her heart without caring too much about the crowd. After seeing Tani enjoy the dish, Anurag had waited no more and quickly grabbed a seat beside her and had started eating with hands. The two had started talking to each other and had instantly fallen in love with each other. After a series of conversations and quick meet-ups in the next three days, the couple had kissed and had locked their hearts with each other forever.

However, like any other couple in this world, Anurag Basu and Tani Basu had found it hard, when the two had approached their respective parents and had told them about their relationship. Neither Anurag's parents were in favour of their marriage, nor Tani's family had found this a good match. After their constant pleas to their respective parents, the two families had agreed, and the couple had tied the marital knot. It was Tani's open-minded nature and patience that had played an important part in strengthening their married life, as she was the one, who had inspired and supported Anurag in his life's complex moments. The two are madly-in-love with each other and not a lot of people are aware of the fact that the romantic terrace scene in Anurag's blockbuster film, Murder (2004) was inspired by his and Tani's real-life love story.
The revelation is indeed an interesting one and tells us the reason why Anurag is so good at bringing romance on the big screen. In 2004, the couple had welcomed their first child, Ishana and their second child in 2007, whom they had lovingly named Ahana. Time and again, Anurag and Tani share glimpses of their happy family moments on their respective social media handles and make us believe in true love.
