Maanayata Dutt Once Revealed That It Was Initially Difficult To Integrate Into Sanjay Dutt's Family

Sanjay Dutt has gone through several turbulent challenges in his life. Despite being a prominent actor on-screen, he dealt with drug addiction and police cases that made his life difficult. However, he often had his family who supported him through the challenges, like his wife, Maanayata Dutt. Sanjay Dutt married Maanayata Dutt on February 7, 2008, and the couple has been going strong ever since. However, Maanayata had once revealed that it wasn't easy for her to settle in his family.

Maanayata revealed that she didn't want to push Sanjay Dutt's sisters to accept her

Sanjay Dutt had two sisters in his family when he married Maanayata Dutt in 2008. However, they didn't accept her immediately after marriage, which caused conflicts. Maanayata sat down for an interview with IANS in 2009, where she shared that neither she nor Sanjay Dutt wanted to push his sisters to accept Maanayata. She was quoted as saying:

"Sanju knows I've tried to do as much in my capacity to find acceptance with his sisters. Beyond that, he wouldn't like me to push myself to try any further. Neither would I."

Maanayata addressed the negative comments that came along her way after marriage

Apart from the family issues, many fans have also criticised Maanayata Dutt. She was accused of taking over Sanjay Dutt's life and people even dug out her background to blame her. However, she bravely replied to those accusations, saying she had the right to live with her husband however she wanted. In her words:

"I know, but what I want to say is that I've the right to live with my husband the way I want to. It doesn't matter whether it's a prostitute or a princess, a wife has certain rights in her husband's home. I'm not a man living in a woman's house."

Sanjay called Maanayata Dutt his 'best half'

Despite all the challenges, Sanjay Dutt and Maanayata Dutt's relationship has stood the test of time. Maanayata has developed a good relationship with Sanjay Dutt's sisters and daughter from a previous marriage, Trishala Dutt. In addition, the couple became parents of twins, Shahraan and Iqra in 2010. Sanjay Dutt never failed to express gratitude towards his wife for being his biggest support system. In one of his interviews with BollywoodLife, the actor said that Maanayata wasn't his 'better half' but his 'best half'.
