It was more than four decades ago when a star-kid had embarked on his journey to take the legacy of his family forward but had grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons. Though there are no second thoughts on him being one of the finest actors in the Bollywood industry, his life has been nothing less than a rollercoaster ride. Sunil Dutt and Nargis’ son, Sanjay Dutt had been put through several tests in life and he had always emerged as a winner. Married to Maanayata Dutt and a father to three kids, Trishala Dutt, Shahraan Dutt and Iqra Dutt, Sanjay Dutt’s family has stood by each other through thick and thin. It was on his twins, Shahraan and Iqra’s birthday in October when Sanjay had announced his victory in the battle with cancer. Sanjay had shared a note, an excerpt of which could be read as “The last few weeks were very difficult time for my family and me. But like they say, God gives the hardest battles to the strongest soldiers. And today, on the occasion of my kid’s birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can- the health and well being of our family.” On which, his proud daughter, Trishala Dutt had commented, “So proud of you dad”. His wife, Maanayata too, had sent love through his post.
There have been numerous instances where we had seen the beautiful relationship of Maanayata Dutt and her step-daughter, Trishala Dutt. Maanayata and Trishala never leave a chance to shower love on each other through social media and it reflects the camaraderie they share, defying the stereotypical image of the step-mother and step-daughter relationship. Post Sanjay’s announcement of defeating cancer, Maanayata posted a note about being ‘brave’ and wrote on social media, “Sometimes you have to be brave with your life...so others can be brave with theirs....keep your head up....your heart strong.” Trishala commented on the post, “Wow” with a bunch of blue heart emoticons matching the colour of Maanayata’s dress.
A few days ago, Trishala Dutt had posted a candid picture of herself, posing in her kitchen wearing a blue sweater with denim. Revealing where she had spent most of her 2020, Trishala had captioned her post as “Where I spent most of my 2020...... in case you were wondering #inthekitchen.” On her post, her step-mother, Maanayata Dutt had commented, “Beautiful” followed by heart emoticons. Trishala had indeed looked beautiful in her long tresses, which she had let loose and her minimal makeup with kohled-eyes and sparkling lip gloss. In 2019, the reports were rife that the gap between Sanjay Dutt and his eldest daughter, Trishala Dutt had gone beyond the geographical distance. A close friend of Sanjay had shared with Bollywood Hungama, "It seems Sanju has shut the door on Trishala. They don’t communicate at all. He has zero knowledge of what goes in her life. There is no connect, direct or indirect, between them."
On the reports of her fallout with father, Sanjay Dutt, Trishala Dutt had later clarified via her social media profile. In an ‘Ask Me Anything’ feature on Instagram, when a follower had asked Trishala, “Rumours going around saying you and your father are not on good terms. Please confirm?” she had replied, “Please do not believe everything that is written in tabloids. I don’t know where or who that came from but No, it’s not true” followed by an eye roll, thumbs down and facepalm emoji. The background of her IG story was Boomerang video of Sanjay and Trishala, wherein he gave a peck on her cheek.
