The word 'Cancer' is no longer restricted to a zodiac sign as the deadly disease has acquired a prominent place in our lives. Whenever we hear about it, we only hope that no one has to go through the painful process of it. It not only breaks a person physically but it also hampers a person’s emotional well-being. Amidst the terrible events of 2020, the news of Bollywood actor, Sanjay Dutt being diagnosed with lung cancer had broken the hearts of his million fans. However, since the beginning, it is his wife, Maanayata Dutt, who has been his constant pillar of strength. On August 12, 2020, Sanjay had announced a break from work for some medical treatment and soon speculations had started around his health. Later, film critic, Komal Nahta had revealed that Sanjay is diagnosed with lung cancer. Sanjay’s family, who has always been his support system, is standing like a pillar of strength for him in this testing time. On September 15, 2020, Sanjay and Maanayata had headed off to Dubai to be with their kids, Shahraan and Iqra and since then, Maanayata has been sharing glimpses of Sanjay with his family.
On September 24, 2020, Maanayata took to her IG handle and shared an adorable picture with Sanjay. In the picture, Maanayata looked beautiful in a floral dress and on the other hand, Sanjay complemented her in a black full sleeved t-shirt and beige pants. Along with the picture, where the lovely couple posed with their arms around each other, Maanayata penned a note on ‘walking together in life’. Her note can be read as “And how do you survive what you have been given to bear. On September 18, 2020, Maanayata had taken to her IG handle and had shared a complete picture of her family. In the picture, Sanjay was seen posing with Maanayata and their kids. Along with the picture, Maanayata had written how blessed she feels to have a family. Her note could be read as “Today...I want to thank God for the gift of family. No complaints...No requests... just to be together, forever. Amen. #blessedbeyondmeasure #love #grace #positivity #dutts #beautifullife #thankyougod." A few days back, a report in The Times of India had stated that Sanjay Dutt is required to be in Mumbai by September 30, 2020, for his third chemotherapy session. After Sanjay's first chemotherapy cycle had ended, Dr Jalil Parkar had talked about the same in an interview with ETimes. He had said, "It is not yet known how many cycles will be required. Chemotherapy is never easy to take and the fight against lung cancer is another battle in his life."

For the uninitiated, on August 8, 2020, Sanjay Dutt was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, after he had complained of breathlessness. The actor had taken to his Twitter handle and had tweeted about his health, "Just wanted to assure everyone that I'm doing well. I'm currently under medical observation & my COVID-19 report is negative. With the help & care of the doctors, nurses & staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two." The actor was immediately tested for COVID-19 but the results were negative and he was discharged from the hospital on August 10, 2020. Later, it was also reported that Sanjay had developed fluid in his chest. A source from the hospital had revealed that when Sanjay was tested negative for COVID-19, an analysis for cancer was done and the results came positive.
