Priyanka Chopra shared a close bond with her father, Dr Ashok Chopra, as evident from the way she flaunts her 'Daddy's little girl' tattoo on her arm. After his unfortunate passing in 2013, the former Miss India got the tattoo as a forever tribute to her father. Recently, Priyanka’s mom, Dr Madhu Chopra recalled an incident when Priyanka’s then-co-star, Hrithik Roshan and his dad, Rakesh Roshan extended their support during a medical emergency.
Dr Madhu Chopra recently appeared for a hearty conversation on the YouTube channel, Something Bigger Show. At one point, she recalled a moment that restored her faith in humanity and friendship when her late husband, Dr Ashok Chopra needed urgent treatment in Boston.
At the time, Priyanka was shooting for Krrish with Hrithik and director, Rakesh Roshan. Priyanka’s father was battling cancer and needed urgent treatment in Boston. However, arranging his travel proved to be a major challenge as airlines were hesitant to allow such a critical patient on board despite the necessary medical clearances. Recalling the event, Madhu shared:
“It just so happened that Priyanka was shooting Krrish with Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan, so she shared her worries with them. He asked her, ‘Why are you crying?’ and then both father and son made that possible for the airlines to take us. They helped us, put in a word, they knew people.”
Earlier, in her autobiography, Unfinished, Priyanka Chopra also extended her gratitude for the Roshans, where she highlighted Hrithik’s unwavering support during her father’s cancer diagnosis. She recounted how Hrithik immediately stepped in to help by using his connections at Air India to secure an urgent flight for her father’s treatment in Boston. Reflecting on the kindness shown by Hrithik and his father, Rakesh Roshan, Priyanka wrote:
“If we hadn’t had people around us who were so kind and so willing to act on our behalf – Hrithik and his father, Rakesh Sir, our family in Boston – I doubt that my father would have made it. There’s no way I can ever express my gratitude adequately to them, but it is deep and it is enduring.”
Despite the best efforts of their family and the Roshans, Dr. Ashok Chopra passed away on June 10, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. In the interview, Madhu Chopra shared that her late husband chose to keep his illness private. She was heard saying:

“He told me not to tell anybody, not in the family, we will go through it ourselves. That was the hardest time to see this mountain slowly getting weak and dealing with something. He couldn’t share his anxiety, his worries, and he was internalising it all.”
