Madhuri Dixit is known as the epitome of grace and beauty in the entertainment industry. The actress ruled Bollywood in the 1990s with her acting skills, impressive dance, and style. She has been lauded for single-handedly paralleling the male-dominated industry by leading star vehicles with her male contemporaries in the 90s. Yet she said goodbye to the entertainment industry after her marriage to Dr Shriram Nene.
After four decades and several accolades, Madhuri has still been able to enchant the audience every time she appears on screen. However, in 1999, she left showbiz and moved to the USA. Madhuri Dixit, who recently appeared in the mega box-office hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, finally revealed why she made the decision to move away from Bollywood.
Madhuri married Dr Shriram Nene when she was at the peak of her career and built a life with him and their two sons in Colorado. Several years later, the couple returned to India in 2011, but the question was why Madurai decided to leave her career. Speaking to Galatta India, Madhuri revealed that she was very happy with her life and did not need a multitude of things for that. She added that she loved her profession but never felt like she was a star, so disappearing from the public eye did not bother her. She stated:
"I was very happy because for me, the paraphernalia was not very important to me. I loved what I do. I love acting, dancing, and everything to do with my profession. Anything else is just a bonus like people considering you as a star. But I haven’t ever felt that way about me. So for me, it was never like, 'Oh my god, I am going away from the public eye. I am getting married at the peak of my career.' I never thought of it that way."
In the same conversation, Madhuri revealed that she had decided to leave the industry because she had found the right person for herself. She shared that having kids was a big part of her dream life, so she was happy with her life with the man she wanted to spend it with. Madhuri further shared that people asked her whether she missed the industry while she was away, but she did not because she was living her dream. In her words:
"I just thought I have met the right person for me. This is the man I want to marry and I am going to get married to this guy because everybody dreams for themselves. For me, it was like having a house, a husband, a family, and kids. I love kids. So, having kids was a big part of that dream. When people say, 'Oh, you were away, and didn’t you miss?', I be like, 'No, I didn’t miss because I was living my dream.'"
Madhuri Dixit and Dr Shriram Nene welcomed two sons, Arin and Ryan, in 2003 and 2005, respectively. Madhuri marked her comeback in 2007 with Aaja Nachle after a five-year break. Later, her family moved back to India in 2011, and she returned to B-Town with her iconic performance of the song Ghagra with Ranbir Kapoor in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Madhuri is currently being lauded for her spectacular performance in Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiya 3, especially her duet with Vidya Balan on Ami Je Tomar 3.0.
