Pooja Bhatt was one of the popular actresses in Bollywood during the 90s. Daughter of eminent filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt, Pooja has worked on some memorable films, including Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi, Sadak, Junoon, Border and others. Apart from the silver screen, she has also been a part of a few television shows and, most recently, performed some incredible work on OTT platforms. Currently, Pooja is a part of the popular reality show, Bigg Boss OTT 2 and during her very first stint, the actress made some startling revelations about her life.
In one of the recent episodes of Bigg Boss OTT 2, Pooja Bhatt, during her conversation with her co-housemate, Cyrus Broacha, revealed how she had a severe drinking problem and struggled with alcoholism at the age of 44. Stating how she had accepted the issue and had immediately quit drinking, Pooja had mentioned:
“I had a drinking problem, and that's why I acknowledged my addiction and made the decision to quit."

In her following conversation, Pooja Bhatt also expressed her views on how women are always discouraged from admitting their addiction problems compared to men in society. Calling it an unfair license in favour of men, she mentioned that since women do not drink openly, they do not recover openly. Moreover, she also mentioned how she was blatantly tagged as an alcoholic during difficult times. In her words:
“Society gives a license to men and thus they can openly speak about being addicted and recovering from alcoholism. However, women don't openly drink and so they don't openly recover. I used to drink openly so when I thought of recovering from alcoholism I realised that why should I recover in the closet? People used to call me an alcoholic but then I said I'm a recovering alcoholic."
Apart from being a phenomenal actress, Pooja Bhatt is a doting sister to her half-sisters, Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt. For the unversed, Alia and Shaheen are daughters of Mahesh Bhatt from his second marriage with Soni Razdan. From the very beginning, Pooja has shared a great bond with Alia, and there has been no animosity between them. In one of her earlier interviews with ETimes, Pooja had praised her sister, Alia Bhatt and even called her a better version of herself.
