Mahima Chaudhry was one of the most popular and loved faces back in the 90s. She was a part of some successful films, including Pardes, Dil Hai Tumhaara, Daag, Dhadkan, Dil Kya Kare among others. However, right at the time when she was at the peak of her career, she faced a fatal road accident, which not only damaged her physical appearance, but also dented her confidence for a substantial period of time. While she definitely bounced back from the difficult times, she now recalled the horrid past.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Mahima Chaudhry recalled that fatal day in the past, when she met with a terrible road accident, that changed her life completely. She mentioned that she was out for a shooting in her car, when a milk truck that came from the wrong side simply rammed into her car. Sharing how the entire glass shattered on her face and 67 glass pieces were taken out from her face, Mahima mentioned:
“I thought I was dying, and at that point, no one even helped me get to the hospital. It was only after reaching the hospital, much later, when my mother came, Ajay came and they went to discuss. I got up and saw my face in the mirror and saw the horror. When they did the surgery on me, they took out 67 glass pieces.”

In the same interview, Mahima revealed why she decided not to speak up about her accident before. The diva mentioned that she was apprehensive that people would not be supportive towards her accident, and was also scared that they might judge her when it came to giving film offers. In her words:
“If at that time, I had discussed it and said that I had cut myself like this, they would have said… ‘oh, iska toh chehra kharab ho gaya let’s sign someone else.”
In the concluding segment of the interview, Mahima recalled a time when a magazine cover put up a picture of her on the cover and openly bashed her accident, calling her a ‘scarface’. She revealed that the magazine took a photo of her from far, since she still had scars and injuries on her face, and the next day, they inhumanly took a dig at her condition. She revealed:
“When I had my accident, they came on the sets when nobody was allowed. They took a shot from far because I still had scars. They put a picture of me on a magazine’s cover and wrote ‘Mahima had an accident. She’s got scars all over the face. We can actually call her scarface.’ It still hurts me.”
