In an interview with Times Now, one of Malaika's close friends slammed the people for dragging his death into gossip. The source mentioned that the reports about Malaika’s father having a conversation with his daughters before his demise are untrue. The close friend of Malaika said:

“This is completely fabricated. Malaika or her sister Amrita, had no such conversation with their father. If he had spoken to them, the girls, both very devoted daughters, would have never allowed this to happen.”

“This ‘sick-and-tired’ narrative is sick. Who has given this to the media? I doubt it’s the cops. Earlier, some family member was quoted as saying Malaika’s father’s death was not suicide. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead before reaching the hospital. In a recent interview with FilmiBeat, one of Anil Mehta's neighbours, a woman in her mid-50s, talked about his close relationship with his family. She further continued that Anil was a jolly person and mingled with everyone. She also recalled how he personally came to inspect things when there was a leakage issue in their neighbour's house. However, she also revealed that she found him low on energy a few days before his demise.

It was his wife who found out about his death when she started looking for him after seeing his slippers lying in the living room. According to the postmortem report, Anil passed away due to multiple injuries on his body.
