Malaika Arora's father, Anil Mehta bid farewell to the world, by reportedly committing suicide on September 11, 2024. The news was utterly heartbreaking, and Malaika, along with her family, have been grieving in this tough phase. While Anil Mehta committed suicide, the reason behind the same is still unknown, and an investigation is underway. It has been reported that Anil had suffered from depression. Amid this, a source revealed an update of the investigation.

A report by Times Now suggested that the police have been investigating this matter till now, and nothing suspicious can yet be found by the team. As per a source, the police have been recording statements from the family members and doctors to disclose if Malaika Arora's father, Anil Mehta had any kind of depression. The source can be quoted as saying:

"The cops haven't found out yet why he took this drastic step but the investigation is still on. Statements continue to be taken of the family members. Nothing suspicious has been found as of now. Furthermore, the police is also taking statements from his doctors to investigate if he was suffering from depression as reports in the media indicated."

Malaika Arora's father, Anil Kuldip Mehta's postmortem report had earlier confirmed that the reason for his death was severe injuries on his head, which was caused by falling from the 6th floor. The report also added that no foul play was involved in this, and it was caused by Anil Mehta's step to commit suicide.

Malaika Arora's mom, Joyce Polycarp's statement after Anil Mehta's demise

Earlier, reports mentioned that Anil Mehta had been suffering from depression and was even admitted to hospital back in 2023, due to some unknown reason. Meanwhile, Joyce Polycarp, in her statement to police, had revealed that her ex-husband didn't have any kind of health issues despite knee pain, which was a mere age-old issue. In her statement, Joyce added that she was looking for Anil, on the morning of September 11, 2024, after finding his slippers in the living room. Well, she wasn't able to find him, and headed towards the balcony, from where she leaned and found her husband lying on the floor, while the watchman was shouting for help.

Anil Mehta called Amrita and Malaika Arora before committing suicide?

Earlier, a report claimed that Anil Kuldip Mehta had dialled Amrita Arora and Malaika Arora and told them that he was sick and tired before jumping off the sixth floor of his building. Well, a close friend of Malaika, in an interview with Times Now dismissed all such claims. Malaika's friend called all of these reports to be fabricated and added that the actress and Amrita are so doting of daughters, that they would never allow this to happen if Anil Mehta had called them before taking this drastic step.

In the same interview, Malaika's friend had slammed these types of fabricated stories and added that it's a crime to make up this kind of story and spread this misinformation amid this testing time. Earlier, a neighbour of Anil Mehta had told FilmiBeat that he was low on energy a few days before he committed suicide.
