Remember ‘Bindiya’ from the iconic '90s film, Karan Arjun? Yes, we are talking about Mamta Kulkarni, a model and actress who once shared the screen with megastars in popular films like Baazi, Andolan, and Sabse Bada Khiladi. Her dazzling image was destroyed after she got embroiled in a Rs. 2000 crore drug traffic controversy with drug lord, Vicky Goswami, which led her to leave the country. Now, Mamta has returned to India after 25 years of exile, and she is all ready to break the silence on long-standing rumours about her marriage to Vicky.
Only days after her return to India, Mamta sat for a candid interview with CNN-News18 to clear her image after all these years. Mamta opened up about her tumultuous past, dispelling long-standing rumours about her marriage to Goswami while firmly distancing herself from his illicit activities. When asked about her relationship with Vicky, Mamta responded by saying:
“I am not married to Vicky, he is not my husband. I am still single. I have not married anyone. Vicky and I have had a relationship but I blocked him 4 years ago.”
In the interview, Mamta confirmed that while she and Vicky dated in the past, they were never married. She went on to explain that despite their association, she was never involved in his drug-related activities. The former model/actress also vouched for Vicky, describing him as a man of good heart. Mamta was heard saying:
“Vicky is a good man, he has a good heart. Everyone from the film industry used to visit him, so I also went to meet him. But I was also the last person from the film industry to meet Vicky. When I came to know about his truth, I left him. He was in Dubai jail. I started meditating to get him out of jail. Vicky came out of jail in 2012. I met him in 2016. After that, he was arrested again. He is my past now. I have left him.”
Earlier, Mamta had an interview with News18 Hindi, where she explained that despite her connection with Vicky, she was never involved in any drug-related activities. She explained:
“In 2015, I went to meet Vicky in Kenya, but I had no idea about his meetings. My name was dragged into the drug case, but I had no connection. The court has now acquitted me of all charges.”
After getting her name spoiled with her alleged relation to drug dealing, Mamta's return to India comes after a significant legal victory. Recently, the Bombay High Court quashed an FIR against her in the Rs. 2,000 crore drug trafficking case due to a lack of evidence and officially cleared her name from the case. She shared a heartfelt video on her Instagram handle, announcing her arrival, and describing how she finally feels at home, now that she is back in Mumbai.
