Actor and Sports Presenter, Mandira Bedi has been a popular face on Indian television. From starring in Indian daily soaps and films to being a cricket presenter, she had a long journey in showbiz. Mandira married producer and director, Raj Kaushal on February 14, 1999, and the couple welcomed a son, Vir, after 13 years of marriage. On July 28, 2020, the couple adopted a baby girl, Tara. In a recent conversation with Humans of Bombay, Mandira shared her long-time desire to adopt a child and the reason for it.
Fans were curious to know why Madira decided to adopt a girl child. In her conversation, Mandira shared that she already discussed her wish to adopt a child early in her relationship with her late husband, Raj Kaushal. The DDLJ star added that she was always busy with her work and expressed her desire to her husband. She told him:

"I want to have one and adopt one."

Mandira Bedi did not want to have a child after her marriage. The actress was then venturing into presenting sports, and her work didn't give her time to plan a child. However, when some relatives in her family were trying for IVF and the process was failing for them, she decided to have a child. Later, Mandira realised that it was the best decision that she made.
Mandira Bedi's husband, Raj Kaushal, passed away on June 30, 2021. The cause of his sudden death was a heart attack that came as a shock to their friends and family. The Shanti actress shared that she and her children talk about her late husband daily, and she has dealt with it. In the same interview, she said:
"The only way out is through, of course, my children and I think of him every day. It’s not like we’ve forgotten him. The first year was very, very, very, very hard. The first of everything is just impossible to deal with. The first birthday, the first anniversary, the first Diwali, the first Christmas, the first New Year. The second one is a little bit easier, the third one is a little bit easier…”

Madira Bedi gained popularity as she starred in the titular role of the show, Shanti in 1994. She further shared in many TV serials like Aurat, Dushman, and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Also, she featured in films like DDLJ and Saaho. Mandira later took a risk and became a sports presenter, hosting ICC Cricket World Cups in 2003 and 2007, Champions Trophies in 2004 and 2006, and IPL for Sony Max.
