Manisha Koirala is a popular actress of her generation in Bollywood. Over the years, she has impressed a large section of the audience with her most iconic films, including 1942- A Love Story, Mann, Gupt, Bombay, and Akele Hum Akele Tum, among others. Recently, Manisha opened up about rejecting a Yash Chopra film in her career, which could’ve been one of the biggest blockbusters of her career.
Manisha Koirala is all set to impress the audience with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series, Heeramandi, as a lead actress. In an interview with India Today, the actress talked about one of the biggest mistakes she made in her career and revealed that saying 'No' to a movie directed by Yash Chopra because of Madhuri Dixit. Sharing the details, Manisha said:
“One of the regrets that I have in my career is that I didn’t do Yash Chopra’s film. I was pitted against Madhuri ji (Dixit), and I got scared. I backed out of that project.”

Later, Manisha was cast alongside Madhuri Dixit in the film, Lajja, directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi. Talking about her experience of working with the Dhak Dhak queen of Bollywood, Manisha said that she never felt insecure about the former. She further added that working with a stronger actor helped her to perform better as she learnt from the latter's age and experience. In Manisha's words:
“Madhuri ji is such a good person and actress. There was no need for me to be insecure. I think when you have a strong actor in front of you, you only perform better. They encourage you to perform better. That comes from age and experience. I loved working with Madhuri ji in that (movie). I loved working with Rekha ji as well.”
Earlier, in a candid conversation with Pinkvilla, Manisha Koirala opened up about the most hurtful comment regarding her acting mettle that somebody passed on her. The actress recalled that when she was auditioning for the film, 1942- A Love Story, filmmaker, Vidhu Vinod Chopra pointed out her poor acting skills. It so happened that during the script reading, Vidhu straightforwardly stated told Manisha that she performed horribly and even called her a bad actor.
