Gone are the days when divorce was a 'hush-hush' topic and society used to consider it as an end of a happy life. In reality, it is the restart button to end an unhappy marriage. After all, there is no use of continuing to live with someone you are not in love with. People grow out of love and its perfectly okay to part ways for your own sake. And that's what happened with ace fashion designer, Masaba Gupta and her ex-husband, Madhu Mantena. Masaba and Madhu had tied the knot in the year 2015 in a grand ceremony. They were happily married but soon their equation with each other changed and in August 2018, they had filed for a trial separation and were granted the same in 2019. Later, the former couple had released an official statement on their divorce, which could be read as “After much thought and consideration, we have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. We have decided to move forward separately and get divorced. We are two individuals who respect and care for each other and have made our own choices. We would appreciate if we are given our privacy at this time.”

After an year, Masaba finally opened up on how she handled the tough phase in her life. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Masaba talked about the same and shared, "Everyone has a perception if you are divorced. I got so busy with work that I didn’t even have the time to realise what was happening in my personal life. I had my own way of dealing with it." She also shared how people reacted to her divorce, "It happens a lot. Somebody was telling me the other day and I completely forgot that I didn’t give myself any time to process my divorce. My uncle told me, ‘Why are you on this treadmill? Can you just process this and then move on?’ I think people take it for granted, that Masaba is strong, she will manage. I have changed drastically because I allow myself to not just grieve and feel down. I take two days off even when I feel celebratory. But no one knows what you are going through until you are going through it yourself. People understand how silly they were being, when they deal with it themselves." Masaba Gupta's mother, Neena Gupta had also talked about her daughter's divorce in an interaction with Rajeev Masand. She had said, "Like a normal mother, I said don't take any decision in a rush. Think about it because me and my husband both loved Madhu and still love him. He's a very nice man and we still love him. But... nahi bana toh nahi bana...Humne bola socho isko, aisa nahi hai ki immediate decision liya, they thought about it. It was a very big shock to me."
After her divorce, Masaba had talked about the difficult phase and had shared a note on her Instagram handle. It could be read as "To, our family, friends, acquaintances, With a lot of sadness, Madhu & I have decided today to go on a trial separation in our marriage. Both of us have taken this decision after consulting professionals and our parents. The only thing we are ready to say right now is, 'what we both want out of life individually and separately is putting unnecessary pressure on the marriage and the love that we share. Hence, we would take time off from each other and our marriage to figure out for ourselves what we want out of this life."

The note could be further read as, "We are not strong enough to explain ourselves to even friends who deserve an answer from us.... All we can say to them is to give us time and to give us love when we reach out to you. We now need a lot of it”. And concluded with, “While we know, given the world and the lives we live in will lead to speculation, rumours and dragging us down into the dirt at this time. We are communicating and encouraging each other to be brave and reminding ourselves the only priority at this time is the well-being and protection of our own selves and our families. Madhu & Masaba." (Don't Miss: Ankita Bhargava Wishes A Baby For Divyanka Tripathi By Next Ganesh Chaturthi, Here's Her Witty Reply)
