IPL (Indian Premier League) is one of the most-watched sports leagues in India. The 17th edition of the glamorous cricket league kick-started on March 22, 2024, at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The opening match of IPL 2024 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings, and the latter won the match by six wickets.

One such moment happened when Lucknow Super Giants locked horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The match resulted in RCB's third loss of IPL 2024 after a record-breaking spell by Indian pacer, Mayank Yadav.

For the uninitiated, Mayank Yadav has become one of the biggest highlights of this season due to the fact that he produced the fastest delivery of IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mayank Yadav took three critical wickets in Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, and Rajat Patidar, which turned the match in LSG's favour.
Apart from taking wickets, Mayank Yadav produced the fastest ball of IPL 2024 as his delivery clocked 156.7 kph. The thunderbolt delivery stunned the entire Chinnaswamy Stadium as people were in awe of the 21-year-old bowler.

Indian bowler, Mayank Yadav made his IPL debut on March 30, 2024, against Punjab Kings and made his place in history books. He took three crucial wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, and Jitesh Sharma. Apart from taking wickets, Mayank produced fastest delivery of IPL 2024 clocking 155.8 kph. However, he broke his own record against Royal Challengers Bangalore when he delivered a 156.7 kph ball and shocked everyone.

In his debut match against the Punjab Kings, Mayank Yadav was bestowed with the Man of the Match award after he took three wickets, which paved the way for a comfortable win for his team, Lucknow Super Giants. In the following match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he once again clinched three important wickets, making him a worthy winner of the Man of the Match award.
According to a report in Aaj Tak, with two MOTM awards in his first two matches for Lucknow Super Giants, Mayank Yadav becomes the first player in IPL history to achieve this feat. In a league where we have seen cricketing greats like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, AB de Villers, Chris Gayle, Lasith Malinga, Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, and many more, it's indeed a massive record.
After such a thunderous performance in his opening matches, Mayank has raised the bar of expectations and is already being compared to iconic Indian bowlers like Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Irfan Pathan, and many more. While Indian fans are in awe of Mayank's pace and are comparing him to iconic fast bowlers, it was legendary Australian bowler, Brett Lee, who joined them and made a headline-breaking comment.

During the post-match analysis of the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, it was Brett Lee who shared his views on Mayank Yadav. The legendary Australian fast bowler congratulated the youngster for producing the fastest delivery of IPL 2024. However, he also added that if he concentrates on his bowling action a bit more, he can easily achieve 4 to 5 kmph more. Not only this, but Brett Lee also backed Mayank to break the fastest bowler in cricket history, Shoaib Akhtar's record of 161.3 kmph.
It will be interesting how Mayank Yadav's career progresses from here. With his brilliant display of speed, line and length at the IPL 2024, people are urging the selectors to name him in India's squad for the T20 World Cup. However, it will be interesting to see whether the selectors will call the youngster or prefer not to rush things. Whether he plays in the upcoming T20 World Cup or not, but one thing is sure that Mayank is going to have an impactful season with Lucknow Super Giants in this year's IPL.
