Meenakshi Seshadri rose to fame with iconic roles in films like Hero, Damini, and Ghayal. The actress captured hearts with her graceful performance and powerful screen presence and debuted in the film industry with the 1983 action romance, Hero. In the latest Friday Talkies episode, Meenakshi shared her inspirational journey in the film industry.
Vineet Rai who is known to have candid conversations with celebs interviewed the veteran actress, Meenakshi Seshadri on the latest episode of Sutradhar with Vineet Rai. The actress reflected on her journey in the industry and shared some surprising behind-the-scenes from our favourite films. One such revelation occurred when the host, Vineet asked the actress about her experience while filming, Dacait.
In the conversation with Vineet, the Parivaar actress, Meenakshi Seshadri recalled how the action drama director, Rahul Rawil made her cry and even refused to pay for her work in the film. Meenakshi recalled that when she was signing the film, Rawail told her that he would not pay the price for her work, as working with him should be price enough for the actress. She added that she was still such a fan of his work that she agreed while crying. The actress stated:
"Unhoney mujhe thoda rulaya lekin, signing k waqt unhoney saaf mana kar diya ki 'mai price nahi dunga tumey.' That 'tum mere saath kaam kar rahi ho vo hi tumhara price hai aur jo bhi mai deta hu usey khushi khushi le lo'. Toh but I was such a fan of his, toh rotey rotey maine smile kiya aur kaha ki okay.

When Vineet asked Meenakshi about how she got the movie and her initial days with co-star, Sunny Deol. She shared that, Rahul Rawail came to meet her regarding the film. She recalled how eager she was to work with him since she knew the director had given some big hits like Arjun and Love Story. Meenakshi shared:
"Rahul Rawail ji mujhse milney aaye, aur Maine socha jis director ne Betaab banayi, Arjun banayi aur bhi filmey banayi hai, Love Story. Toh maine toh kaam karna hi hai."
Meenakshi Seshadri had been in the industry for 4 years at that point. The actress wanted to earn well and become a bigger star, so when Rawail approached her to act in his film she was thrilled. Seshadri shared that Rahul told her that she would only have 6-7 scenes and a few songs in the movie.
As the story focuses on Sunny Deol's character and his family, but he would present her in an extremely beautiful way, as he likes to make his heroines look pristine. To which the actress said that she did not need to be convinced. However, the deal ended with Rahul denying Meenakshi, the payment she deserved. She recalled:
"Unhoney ye bhi keh diya saaf saaf Dacait mei Sunny ka main kirdaar hai, uski family ka bohot importance hai par jo 5-6 scenes aur 2-3 gaane tumhare honge vo bohot achey honge, content strong hoga aur mai picturise...mai apni heroines ko 'I believe in presenting them very beautifully'. Toh I said aapko mujhey kuch convince karney ki zaroort nahi hai mai taiyaar hu."
