Charles Barkley is a well-known American former professional basketball player. He has played in 16 seasons of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Reportedly, Charles was an 11-time NBA All-Star, 11-time member of the All-NBA team, and the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1993. After retiring from the sport, Charles is known for being a television analyst for TNT Sports and CBS Sports. 

At present, Charles Barkley is hogging the limelight for his public feud with Draymond Green, which started when the latter criticised Charles' Hall of Fame career earlier this week. It is worth noting that in the following days, Draymond has already cleared the air and apologised to the former NBA player for his comments. Charles Barkley and Maureen Blumhardt got married in 1989

According to reports, Charles Barkley met his now-wife, Maureen Blumhardt, back in the mid-to-late 1980s. This was when Charles was still playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. The couple tied the knot in 1989. Two years before they got married, Charles and Maureen sat down for an interview with People in 1987. During the interview, Maureen admitted to the outlet that her family wouldn't like her dating a "76er with so much money he can have any woman he wants." The duo also discussed basketball during the interview, with Maureen asking Charles, "Are you going to outscore him tonight?" referring to Michael Jordan. It is worth noting that Charjes had asked the publication not to print Maureen's name at the time. 

Charles Barkley and Maureen Blumhardt share one daughter together 

The same year that they tied the knot, Charles Barkley and his wife, Maureen Blumhardt, welcomed a daughter named Christiana in 1989. It is worth mentioning that she is the couple's only child. As per reports, Christiana graduated from Villanova University in 2011. Later, she went on to obtain a Master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in 2017. Granted that she is Charles' daughter, Christiana is unsurprisingly a big fan of Villanova's basketball team. Speaking about the same in 2016 during Villanova's NCAA tournament run, Charles told USA Today: 

"My daughter was living and dying with every game for the last three weeks, so I was really more excited for her, to be honest with you. She's been going to a Villanova bar in New York City every game. She didn’t even want to come to the game because she didn’t want to jinx the game."

Christiana reportedly tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, Ilya Hoffman, on March 6, 2021, at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort and Bungalows. Apparently, the wedding venue was located in her family's hometown. Gushing about his son-in-law, Charles told Jimmy Kimmel:

"I love his family, they're amazing people, they've been living in Long Island for a long time…And it's going to be a welcome addition to my family."

Maureen Blumhardt and Charles Barkley are grandparents 

Maureen and Charles are grandparents to their daughter, Christiana's two children – son, Henry, and daughter, Charlie Eliza. During his appearance on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction in June 2024, Charles Barkley told David Letterman, “Outta all the stuff that happened in my life, little Henry and little Charlie, being a grandpa is the greatest thing.” 

Maureen Blumhardt and Charles Barkley have secrets to keeping their marriage alive for so many years 

Being married for decades, it is no surprise that Maureen and Charles have a secret to their long-lasting marriage. During his March 2022 appearance on The Volume podcast, Charles opened up about the same, stating, “Well, number one, I’m gone a lot. That always helps. I think the main reason is she accepts me, flaws and all...She doesn’t judge me. She accepts me how I am. She’s a great mother."

Maureen Blumhardt is a philanthropist 

According to a report by People, Maureen Blumhardt is a philanthropist. She is a member of the Fresh Start Women's Foundation, which is a Phoenix-based organisation. Coming to what it does, the organisation's website states, “Moving from ‘survive' to 'thrive,’ " the organization's website states. “From establishing household stability to launching a new career in today’s most in-demand fields, our strategic approach helps women not only achieve economic independence, but sustain it.” Back in 2016, Maureen and her daughter, Christiana, were also photographed together at the Fresh Start Women's Foundation annual gala. 

Maureen Blumhardt and Charles Barkley reside in Arizona

As per reports, Maureen and Charles live in Scottsdale, Arizona. In the town, the couple prefer to keep their lives out of the spotlight. It is worth noting that in 2015, Charles Barkley was inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame.
