This year will mark the 75th Republic Day of independent India. Seventy-five years ago on this day, the Indian constitution was adapted which marked the beginning of a new inning for India after being in the shackles of the British. Every year on his day, the honorable president of India hoists the national flag followed by the grand parade along with customary cultural and military performances. The presidents also distributes the Padma Awards on this day which are the: Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra and Vir Chakra titles to the deserving civilians.
This year, the Republic Day parade is grander than ever, with its themes being 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka', which will highlight India as the leading nurturer of democracy and the flag bearer of the same. It will also denote how the country has progressed over the years. The parade will march down the Kartavya Path. This year, for the first time, we have a couple, Major Jerry Blaize and Captain Supreetha CT, marching together from different contingents.

Jerry Blaize is a Major in the Madras regiment. He is from Wellington, Tamil Nadu, and completed his graduation from the prestigious, Jain University, Bengaluru. The Major also participated in the 2014 Republic Day parade and marched from the NCC contingent. This is going to be his second parade, and it couldn't be any more special as his wife will also be a part of the prestigious parade. Talking about his forthcoming parade to PTI about the Republic Day march, Major Jerry Blaize added:
"This was also one of the motivating factors for me to lead my regiment in the Republic Day 2024 at Kartavya path and make my regiment proud."
Captain Supreetha CT is serving the Corps of Military Police contingent and will be marching down the Kartavya Path from the same force. Supreetha revealed that she and her husband, Major Jerry, are posted in different parts of the country but have united now for the grand parade. She divulged that it is a proud moment for both of them. Captain Supreetha previously marched in the Republic Day parade in 2016, and this year will be her second time. Capt. Supreetha is from Mysore, Karnataka, and has completed her Law graduation from the prestigious, JSS Law College.

This is the first time in the history of India that a married couple will be marching together at the grand Republic Day parade. Jerry and Supreetha got married in June 2023. Major revealed to the PTI that it is a coincidence that he and his wife will be marching down the Kartavya Path. The occurrence was in no way planned. Major Jerry added:
"This is a first in the history of the Republic Day parades."
Captain Supreetha added that she and her husband, Major Jerry gave their selection test separately and got selected on merit. They did not know that this would lead to such a historical occurrence. However, she is very excited about the same, and their families will also be coming to attend the parade. Supreetha added:
"This did not happen in a planned way. It is a coincidence. Initially, I gave my selection test and got through. Then my husband also got selected from his regiment."
