Sanjay Leela Bhasali’s dream project, Heeramandi, is garnering a lot of applause from critics and fans. The OTT series, which portrays the brothel culture and the life of courtesans during the rule of the Nawabs, has beautifully captured all the elements of the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore. Set in the backdrop of the Indian Independence movement, the film stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Sehgal, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan and a few others.
Every character in the series played a significant role, and in the elaborate cast, actor, Taha Shah Badussha, who played the role of 'Nawab Tajdar Baloch', caught a lot of attention. The actor, who plays the role of an advocate and Alamzeb’s lover, has become the Internet’s crush as fans are completely smitten by his good looks and effortless acting. Taha Shah was born in Abu Dhabi and took his early education at Sherwood Academy in Abu Dhabi till 4th standard. After grade 4, Taha went to a well-known boarding school in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. But he felt homesick in his boarding school, and his parents brought him back to Sharjah, and he continued his studies. After his schooling, Taha was enrolled at the American University of Sharjah to pursue Business Administration but later dropped out of the program as it didn’t interest him.
Taha Shah’s father, Shah Sikkander Badusha, is an orthopaedic doctor, and his mother, Mahnaz Sikkander Badusha, was a biochemist who has become an entrepreneur. Taha’s elder brother is a lead civil engineer educated at the University of Toronto.

In 2006, Taha involved himself in many businesses, such as human resource management and real estate. After the economic downturn, his businesses did not reap benefits. On the other hand, Taha tried his hand at modelling and did advertisements for brands like Honda, Bacardi, Emirates Bank, and many others. Taha joined an acting school in Mumbai because of his love for acting. After polishing his acting skills, he later took admission to the New York Film Academy in Abu Dhabi.
Taha began his acting career with an anti-hero role in Luv Ka The End by Y-Films in 2011. He was later seen in Gippi in 2013, and his performance was lauded by many A-listed filmmakers. His eagerness to try diverse roles in different genres became the highlight of his acting. Taha was later seen in films like Barkhaa, Baar Baar Dekho and Ranchi Diaries.

In 2020, Taha Shah made his Hollywood debut with the film, Draupadi Unleashed. Apart from films, Taha has also proved his acting mettle in web series like Bullets, Bekaboo 2 and the latest Heeramandi. Apart from being a versatile actor, Taha has one more hidden talent, and that is singing. In 2022, he made his singing debut when he released his single 'Vande Mataram'.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Heeramandi has garnered a lot of attention after its release. Amid the splendid cast, it was Taha Shah’s character, 'Tajdar Baloch', which is getting a lot of love and attention. The actor, who played the role of Alamzeb’s love interest in the film, has now become an internet sensation and the latest crush.
At the launch of Heeramandi’s trailer, Taha Shah revealed that he was cast for a 3-day part, which was later extended. In an interview with The Free Press Journal, Taha recounts working in Heeramandi and said:
“I was eternally grateful when I first stepped into the sets. I was mesmerised by the scale and magnitude that SLB had created. I have never been on a set like this. To see it in real and to be a part of it is not less than a blessing. I was told to shoot for 45-50 days but I was on the sets for 110 days.”
Heeramandi has revived Taha Shah’s acting career, and he has earned a huge fan base for his effortless performance, versatility and good looks.
