As the couple led a happy life, they were blessed with a baby boy in 1987, whom they named Sidhartha Mallya. Soon after Sidhartha’s birth, the family shifted to England. But soon, cracks started appearing in their lives, and the two decided to part ways. Irreconcilable issues and constant fights became the reason for their divorce.
When Vijay Mallya and Sameera Tyabjee got divorced, Sidhartha was a baby. He was raised by his mother, Sameera, and while growing up, he, too, dealt with the fact that his parents were not together. Though Sidhartha shares a very warm bond with his father, he is close to his mother. In 2021, Sidhartha penned his first book, If I'm Honest, in which he talked about dealing with multiple things in his life, including his mental health struggles.

Not just this, he also penned his emotions about his parents’ divorce and its impact on him. After the release of the book, in an interview with Khaleej Times, Sidharth revealed the reason behind mentioning his parents’ divorce. Talking about the same, he said:
“I think today the world is a little bit different. Something popped up on my Instagram feed the other day - the profile of a woman who is a 'divorce coach'. She guides parents and children through the process of divorce from a mental and psychological point of view. That shows, I guess, that more things like that exist today than perhaps when my parents got divorced 25 years ago. But I definitely think that divorce is one of those things that tends to get swept under the rug because it's become so common, which is why people think it's just a way of life."
Although Vijay Mallya and Sameera Tyabjee have parted ways, he has often stated in interviews that he has a ‘great relationship’ with her.
