Salman Khan and Mika Singh definitely take the cake when it comes to listing down the iconic friendships in Bollywood. Time and again, the singer has expressed his deep admiration for the superstar, so much so, that he is ready to tackle anyone who might come in bhai’s way. In a recent interview, Mika Singh shared some of Salman's quirks that are hilarious and equally amusing.
Recently, in a candid chat with The Lallantop, Mika revealed how their friendship blossomed over the years, starting with their first interaction in the 1990s. They first started on a professional note as Mika worked on Salman’s films, including his iconic track from Kick, Jumme Ki Raat. Recalling the incident, Mika hilariously added how he is now a part of Salman’s midnight call lists. Mika shared:
“He came to one of my shoots…We interacted, but I didn’t think to butter him up and ask for his phone number…I had already done the song, ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ for him, but I thought that my voice was terrible in it. Salman bhai loved it...In my excitement, I tweeted about it. Now, Salman bhai usually likes talking on the phone at 2 am, and he gets very upset if you don’t answer his calls."
During the same interview, Mika recalled a standout moment from his friendship with bhai. It was when Salman requested to change a word in one of Mika’s songs, urging him to replace the word ‘Katrina’ with ‘Jaquelina’. The singer recalled:
“Yes, I did change it for him. But I hadn’t had any song with him before 'Loot', I did a lot of songs after that. Whatever song I write, I write according to the film. In that film, the characters were so that I had taken some names but then I changed them when he asked me to. I changed the word ‘Katrina’ to ‘Jacquelina’.”
Mika shared yet another nerve-wracking incident when Salman himself decided to step into his shoes for a song, adding that an actor replacing a playback singer was something that he had not expected to see in his career. The singer hilariously shared:
“I never accept jobs where I might be replaced. But here, it was Salman Khan himself who was replacing me. What was I going to do? I was so tense. He asked me if I liked his singing, and of course, I said yes. But luckily, one of his nephews was with him. He made him listen to the song as well, but his nephew told him that my version was better."
Despite the funny anecdotes, Mika’s admiration for Salman shines through. From supporting the actor during challenging times to sharing a genuine bond, Mika considers Salman more than just a superstar. On his 59th birthday on December 27, 2024, Mika shared a memory with bhai, mentioning him as a 'super star big bro'.
