YouTube is the biggest video-sharing platform in the world. With more than 2.70 billion active users in 2024, YouTube continues to dominate the social media space. The popular video-sharing platform has been in the news recently for contrasting reasons. On one side, YouTube witnessed a historic moment after ace footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo launched his YT channel and reached 10 million subscribers within 10 hours. This was something that had never happened before in YouTube's history.
However, the platform has been in the headlines because of a famous British YouTuber named Miles Routledge. For the uninitiated, the UK-based YouTuber has given India an open nuclear bomb warning in his controversial video. Miles also added that if he reincarnated in the future, he would like to return as a virus to end India's overpopulation crisis.
The inhuman statements about India without any reason and just for making content have made every Indian furious. Miles Routledge instantly received a lot of threats and backlash from not just Indians but also from African countries, who were also abused racially by the YouTuber in his previous videos. For the uninitiated, Miles Routledge is renowned by the title of 'Lord Miles' by his 126,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel. After he mocked Indians for their caste system, skin colour, and infrastructure, several people lashed out at him on his X handle (Twitter handle).
A user even gave a death threat to Miles Routledge and told him to visit India if he had the guts. The YouTuber gave no reply but shared the screenshots of the messages he received. In order to mock the user even more, he made fun of the Indian accent. He penned, "SAAR SAAR I WILL FIGHT U AFTER MY UBER EATS SHIFT SAAR DO NOT REDEEM A FLIGHT OUT OF HERE." Not only this, he shared a lot of memes making fun of Indians on Twitter and enjoyed it to the fullest without caring about the sentiments of 1.428 billion people.

The reason why Miles Routledge's nuclear threat warning to India has gained global attention is due to the fact that he had a 'cultural exchange' with the Taliban in the past. For the uninitiated, back in 2021, Miles decided to travel to Afghanistan despite knowing the fact that a Taliban invasion was going on there. Dubbed as the 'danger tourist,' Miles wanted to explore the world's most dangerous places, and Afghanistan was on that list.
Despite being in Afghanistan at a time of absolute chaos, Miles Routledge had one of his most memorable trips. The YouTuber revealed that he befriended the Taliban and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation special forces. Opening up about his time in Afghanistan, he said, "As people were screaming and running around, I was befriending the Taliban and NATO special forces with a smile and my smartphone, posting everything for the world to see." In late February 2023, Miles Routledge made a third visit to Afghanistan and was detained by Taliban intelligence for eight months.
However, when Miles Routledge came back to the United Kingdom after serving his eight-month ordeal under the Taliban intelligence, he admitted that it was the 'most enjoyable vacation yet'. Not only this, Miles also added that he had made some friends in the Taliban intelligence. Courtesy of his link to the Taliban, whatever Miles has said about India in the public domain has concerned almost everyone. While Indians are demanding strict action against the British YouTuber, it will be interesting to see how the British and Indian governments will move forward in this global controversy.
