Who can forget “my child is not a puppy” controversy of Shahid Kapoor’s more-than-just-a-star-wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor? When Shahid and Mira appeared on Koffee With Karan, they became the perfect ambassadors for arranged marriages in this day and age. But this also became the reason of Mira and Shahid being criticised for promoting arranged marriages and having children at an early age. Later, Mira again became a huge victim of trolls as she had clearly stated in one of her interviews about balancing the responsibility of a child and work and putting family before career. What seems like the people refuse to forget Mira Rajput Kapoor's 'puppy' statement, on a Women's Day interaction, wherein she had stated, “I can raise my daughter, be a good wife, and set up my home the way I like. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I wouldn’t want to spend one hour a day with my child and then rush off to work. Why did I have her then? She is not a puppy. I want to be there for her as a mother. Seeing her grow up cannot be quantified." Within no time, Mira received a lot of backlashes, especially from working women who leave their kids at home to go and work, and they don't treat their children like 'puppies'.
On March 13, 2019, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput Kapoor were snapped outside their gym as they posed for the shutterbugs. The pictures went viral on the social media, and in no time, netizens couldn't help but wonder what made Mira leave her 'puppies' at home and head to the gym. On November 23, 2018, Mira Rajput Kapoor along with Misha Kapoor and Zain Kapoor headed off to Delhi, which is also her hometown, to spend some quality time with her parents and also to celebrate her father’s 60th birthday. While leaving for Delhi, Mira was captured by the paparazzi at the Mumbai airport and became a huge victim of trolls for not carrying her son, Zain. Zain was wrapped in his nanny’s arms while Mira walked hand-in-hand with Misha. People targeted her for contradicting her own statements and giving her child to a nanny. When Mira Rajput Kapoor along with Misha Kapoor and Zain Kapoor came back from Delhi on December 12, 2018, after her long vacation, she was backlashed again. But this time, trolls targeted her for carrying Zain Kapoor in her arms only because she was trolled earlier for not carrying him and giving Misha to the nanny. In an interview with Times Now, Mira Rajput Kapoor spoke about the trolls targeting her every now and then, and had shared, “The internet is one platform that is accessible to everyone. People can say what they feel and it gives everyone the right to express themselves the way they want and to what extent they feel like. So, there will be opinions. It's not that everyone is going to love you. I have always spoken for myself and I have never shied away from expressing what I truly feel.”
Mira Rajput Kapoor went on to say, “It’s not something new for me. Nowadays, people receive backlash for whatever they do or say. It is the way the internet is. At some level, it is a bit sad.” Mira further shared nervousness while shooting for the ad, and said, “I won't lie, I was very nervous because doing an ad was completely out of my comfort zone. But I think what put me at ease was the nature of the ad, which was very conversational with real experiences. It was something I have already been through. I felt that I was just talking about something that I have gone through myself and from my own point of view.
