Bollywood Sangeets are always a star-studded affair. Most of the pre-wedding Sangeet ceremonies taking place in B-town receive widespread media coverage. Everyone wants to know which stars were present on the guest list, who could not show up, which celebs were not invited and who wore what. The year 2012 saw many celebrity couples tie the knot and some of the most over-the-top and glam Sangeets were held this year in Bollywood. Let’s take a look:
Sweet Love: Ritesh and Genelia
The wedding of real and reel-life Bollywood couple, Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza, was one of the most anticipated marriages in tinsel town. The couple tied the knot on the 3rd February but the wedding festivities began long before that. The grand wedding was preceded by the chic Sangeet ceremony which was attended by some of the most famous names in Bollywood.The ceremony was hosted at Taj Lands End in Bandra.
Ritesh appeared dapper in an electric blue Sherwani while Genelia looked breathtaking in a graceful peach and white lehengas. Notable names in attendance included the Bollywood young guns like Aashish Choudhury, Jackky Bhagnani and Aftab Shivdasani. Shah Rukh Khan lent the voiceover for the whole ceremony though he failed to turn up in person. Karan Johar supervised and choreographed the special music performance by Genelia and Ritesh. No media was allowed inside the premises for privacy reasons but stars like Arshad Warsi, Abhishek Bachchan, Sohail Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor were spotted at the party.

The Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie of Bollywood- Chhote Nawab Saif Ali Khan and his lady love Kareena Kapoor hosted their Sangeet ceremony on the 14th of October at her residence in Bandra. Relatives and close friends of the couple were invited. Long-time friend Manish Malhotra designed Bebo’s attire which consisted of a bright orange ghagra and a shimmering gold choli. A stunning necklace, earrings, dark bangles and gajra acted as the perfect accessories for her Sangeet look. Big names of the night included Neetu Singh, Saif’s daughter Sara, Manish Malhotra, Sanjay Kapoor, Saif’s sister sister Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu among others.
Starry Sangeet: Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani
Bollywood veterans Dharmendra and Hema Malini left no stone unturned to make the Sangeet ceremony of their eldest daughter, Esha, an affair to remember. The bride-to-be appeared glowing in an orange lehenga by Rocky S and walked arm in arm with Bharat Takhtani, her fiancé, all decked out in a blue sherwani.
Daddy Dharmendra along with step-brothers Bobby and Sunny did not pose for the camera. But, cousin Abhay Deol covered for them, with girlfriend Preeti Desai in arm. Esha’s little sister, Ahana, looked beautiful in a cool blue anarkali. High profile Sangeet guests included Zayed Khan, Esha’s first co-star, along with wife, Malaika, Riya and Raima Sen, Naseeruddin Shah with his family, Madhoo, Ranveer Singh, the newly-wedded Ritesh and Genelia Deshmukh and Sohail Khan.
Private Affair: Vidya and Siddharth
Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor kept their wedding totally a private affair. The Mehendi and Sangeet for this couple were held at Vidya’s residence on 13th December. It was strictly an occasion for close family and friends. Media was not allowed inside, though Vidya later obliged the photographers showing her henna-decorated hands. The only Bollywood celeb who graced the occasion was Rekha, a close friend and favourite of Vidya.
