Mouni Roy is one of the most-loved actresses in Tinseltown, who gained stardom equally both in television and cinema. She started off her work in daily soap at the age of 19, when she landed her first big show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Thereafter, she starred in a number of hit serials, such as Kasturi, Do Saheliyaan, Naagin, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev and many others. It was in 2018 when Mouni made her film debut with Gold. Thereafter, she has enthralled audiences with her performances in Romeo Akbar Walter, Made In China, Brahmastra and others.
In a recent interaction with Mashable India, Mouni Roy opened up about making a career in showbiz, at an age of 19, while she was still in college. The actress revealed how it all started when someone approached her for an audition for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which she agreed to, since she was sure that it would be nothing more than a summer job for her. Adding how she simply fell in love with the entire acting process thereafter, Mouni said:
“I thought I’ll do this as a summer job and then go back but that never happened because I honestly fell in love. For someone who is 19 years old, just imagine to come here…”

Talking more about her initial years in television, Mouni remarked that she would only get three hours of sleep, considering the show in which she appeared was the highest rated one at that time. Interestingly, she expressed how even after getting utterly tired with the hectic schedule, she never left the shooting sets. In her words:
“Our working hours used to be very different. We’d be on 3-4 hours of sleep and I still did not mind it. I may feel tired, I may feel sick but I never feel like not going on set.”
Discussing further about her television journey, Mouni Roy shared that how many a times, she was required to do double shifts, apart from the regular 12-hour shifts she already did. She explained how there were a few months when she ended up doing more than the normal double shifts. Moreover, she spilled beans on her first-ever paycheck in television and shared it was approximately Rs. 1.5 lakh.

In the concluding segment of the interview, Mouni Roy reflected on the kind of equation she still shares with her co-star from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Smriti Irani. The actress shared how initially, she felt too scared and overwhelmed to get accustomed to the ambience of the shooting floor, and used to hide herself behind books. However, she expressed how it was Smriti, who warmed upto her and bought her ice-creams and even lent the latter some of her own books. Wrapping up on their bonding, Mouni said:
“I really love her, respect her, adore her and I really wish I can imbibe some of her qualities, like being resilient and strong.”
