Moushumi Chatterjee is one of the biggest actresses in the history of Indian cinema. It was during the 1970s when she was simply ruling the Indian film industry and was one of the highest-paid actresses of that era. Born into a Bengali Brahmin family, Moushumi was from an affluent family, as her father, Prantosh Chattopadhyaya, was in the Indian Army, while her grandfather was a judge at a court. For the unversed, Moushumi's real name is Indira, which her parents gave to her.
The iconic actress made her acting debut as a child artist at the age of 10 in the Bengali film, Balika Badhu back in 1967. For the uninitiated, Moushumi Chatterjee wanted to finish her 10th standard but was married off to Jayanta Mukherjee at the age of 15. The timeless actress was just 17, when she embraced motherhood for the first time in 1974. Moushumi gave birth to a daughter and named her Payal. It was in 1982 when she welcomed her second daughter and chose the name, Megha for her.

At a time when actors used to hide their marriage and children, Moushumi Chatterjee was an inspiration for everyone in the Indian film industry. The actress not only made her marriage public but even embraced motherhood two times when she was at the peak of her acting career. In the year 1974, when she welcomed her first daughter, Payal Chatterjee, Moushumi won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her acting performance in the film, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan.
Moushumi Chatterjee is one of the few actors in the history of Indian cinema, who proved that acting is still the biggest factor behind an actor's success. Once, in an old interview with Lehren, Moushumi admitted that she was never under any kind of pressure as she already had what she wanted back then. However, she added that she never valued her career and stardom. Not only this, she also opened up about her conversation with Mahesh Bhatt, who labelled her pregnancies as 'obstacles'. She said:
"I was never under any pressure because I already had what I wanted. I never valued my career and my stardom. You become pregnant whenever your career goes up. He said that these are the obstacles in my career. I corrected him and said that they added colours to my life."

During her illustrious career, Moushumi Chatterjee had worked on a series of timeless films that still hold a special place in the hearts of her fans. It includes the likes of Parineeta, Angoor, Anuraag, Benaam, Do Premee, Swarag Narak, Aag Hi Aag, Ghulam Begum Badshah, Kacche Dhaage, Naina, Us Paar, Zindagi, Ab Kya Hoga, and many more. However, there's a lesser-known part of Moushumi's life that is not known to the masses, as it is about her daughter, Payal Mukherjee and her husband, Dicky Sinha. So, without further ado, let's talk about the most disturbing phase of Moushumi's life!
Moushumi Chatterjee and Jayanta Mukherjee's elder daughter, Payal Mukherjee got married to renowned businessman, Dicky Sinha back in 2010. As per a report in India Today, Moushumi Chatterjee's husband, Jayanta Mukherjee, their daughter, Payal Mukherjee, and her husband, Dicky Sinha were directors of Tethys Business and Projects Private Limited. However, due to some disputes and differences in their business in 2016, relations between both families soured to an unrepairable extent.

For the unversed, Moushumi Chatterjee and Jayanta Mukherjee's daughter, Payal Mukherjee was suffering from juvenile diabetes right from an early age. As she grew old, Payal's health started deteriorating even more, and her mother, Moushumi accused her husband, Dicky Sinha and her in-laws of neglecting her daughter's health. Not only this, Moushumi even added that Payal's husband and her in-laws refused to pay her medical bills.

Things took an ugly turn when Dicky Sinha filed a defamation case against his mother-in-law, Moushumi Chatterjee. Once in an old interview with SpotboyE, Dicky revealed that Moushumi didn't attend her daughter's funeral and terahvin. He further added that his wife, Payal was in coma for over two-and-half years. Dicky also shared the details of her wife's medical condition and revealed that she was revived twice. She said:
"Moushumi did not even see Payal's face after she died. She wasn't at the funeral, she neither came to the mortuary. Her father and her sister Megha came only at the funeral. Payal was in coma for nearly two-and-half years, but twice, we managed to revive her a bit and even make her walk with support. However later, her nephro system gave way leading to several complications. During this whole illness, she was operated twice; and once even a brain surgery was done."
The feud between Moushumi Chatterjee and Dicky Sinha is reportedly still on. The cracks went too deep after the demise of Payal Mukherjee, who passed away in December 2019 at the age of 45. Both families are reportedly not in contact with each other, and things are at a point where both sides are no longer interested in mending their ways.
