Mrunal Thakur started her journey in showbiz with television and has worked in the popular serial, Kumkum Bhagya, among others. She then switched to films in 2014 and has not looked back ever since. Mrunal has captivated audiences with her power-packed and versatile performances in each one of her projects. She has worked in Super 30, Sita Ramam, Jersey, Lust Stories 2, Made In Heaven 2, and many more. Recently, in an interview, the actress revealed why she had to skip doing certain films.
While conversing with iDiva, the actress talked about a lot of aspects of her professional life and revealed how her parents reacted when she decided to step into showbiz. Mrunal shared that when she got an offer for a show, she informed her father of the same and he even asked her to do it. Her father thought she would have to film for a day or two, but when Mrunal informed him that she would have to shoot for 30 days a month, her father refused. Sharing what happened next, the actress said:
“He flew from Kerela to Mumbai where I was staying, came to my hostel, it was a girl's hostel. He was sitting there waiting for me to arrive from college and he was like ‘You are not doing that show.’ I convinced him, I said ‘Papa, when I’m 23 years old, I will get married to whoever you say, I will only do great work, I will always run the stories with you, and you approve if I should do it or not.’”

However, Mrunal’s father was still not convinced, and she shared that he wanted to ask her uncle about the same. After much negotiation, her father inquired if she was happy with it, and Mrunal said, “I am very happy.” That’s when her father gave her permission to work on the serial. Mrunal further shared that she was detained in the fifth semester of college due to her inadequate attendance, and her father stood by her side as a pillar, who asked her to follow her passion and complete her degree later.
During the same conversation, Mrunal revealed that she was not comfortable doing certain kinds of scenes, particularly the intimate ones as she would get scared because of her parents. The actress said that she would say no to roles with intimate scenes, but there came a point when she had to make her parents understand the demands of her job. In her words:
“Even certain kind of roles, I was not really comfortable doing scenes which were intimate, like romantically. I would just get scared, and I would just start saying no, no to a film but how long would I say no? There was a point I had to sit down with my parents and tell them that ‘Papa, I cannot miss a part because sometimes it’s there, it’s not my choice.’ As much as I wanted to do a film, I had to drop because there was a kissing scene involved. As an actor you need to be ready because sometimes that’s the demand. If you are not comfortable, you can tell, you can talk about it but I kept missing on films because of that.”

Mrunal also talked about the issue of paparazzi shooting actresses from problematic angles. The actress questioned what is the need for such angles and went on to say that she had a conversation with the paps, who were sweet and understood her dilemma. Mrunal said that she told the paps that she respects their profession and in turn, they need to respect her identity, character and who she is because when her family and friends see those videos, it does not leave a good impression on them. Moreover, Mrunal is also happy that some are talking about it now.
