However, if you think our captain cool’s charm instantly worked on ever-so-graceful, Sakshi, then you are wrong! Yes, it took Dhoni a lot of hard work to woo Sakshi and to upgrade his status in her heart. The couple successfully kept their love hidden from the media glare until they exchanged wedding vows on July 4, 2010, in the presence of their family.
Their epic love story makes us believe in the magic of love all over again! And they often give us more reason to cherish their love. On April 10, 2019, Dhoni shared a picture with Sakshi on his Instagram handle, wherein, we can see the couple sleeping on the Chennai airport’s floor. He captioned the picture as, “After getting used to IPL timing this is what happens if u have a morning flight.” Check out the picture below:
In an interview, Dhoni had talked about the light of his life, Sakshi, and had shared, “Sakshi provides the spark I might sometimes need. Jokes aside, she is the person to whom I have a reference. She is both loving and inspirational. Sometimes she travels with me, but cricket is easier without having to ensure her safe passage. One day, we will see the sights together and she says that then, can she please move to number two on the list of my priorities! But for the moment I am here to play cricket. I have been given this honour to play for my country so I want to see it through.” (Also Read: Alia Bhatt Talks About Working With BF Ranbir Kapoor In Brahmastra, Says 'His Eyes Are So Honest')
In another interview, Dhoni had also once stated that his wife, Sakshi, holds the third place in his priority list. He had revealed, “I love my country. I tell my wife she is only the third most important thing after my country and my parents, in that order. The point is that while I am an Indian cricketer I will devote myself to that cause. Cricket is not everything, not by any means, but it is a large part of who I am. Therefore, I want to play in all formats of the game and to play as much as possible because before long it will be over. Then I’ll focus more on the Army.” (Don't Miss: Raman Raghav 2.0' Actress, Sobhita Dhulipala And Pranav Mishra Are Match Made In Heaven?)
