Mukesh Ambani Steps Down From Reliance Jio, His Son, Akash Ambani Becomes Chairman

The Ambani family needs no separate introduction. One of the most renowned families who has been ruling the business world for years made their most special announcement today, on June 28, 2022. Akasha Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, has become the chairman of their company, Reliance Jio.

Mukesh Ambani, the tycoon of the business world, finally stepped down from his position in Reliance Jio and handed over all of the responsibility to his son, Akash Ambani. For the unversed, Jio Platforms is an Indian Technology company which was established in 2019 and owned by RIL.

Reliance Jio company's board announced the appointment of Akash Ambani as the chairman at a meeting on June 27, 2022. In other positions, Pankaj Mohan Pawar will work as the company's Managing Director, while Raminder Singh Gujral and KV Chowdary will work as independent directors. In a regulatory filing, it was mentioned:

"Approved the appointment of Akash M Ambani, non-executive director, as chairman of the board of directors of the company."

In an old interview, Ambani had shared that he could see his children become more responsible towards the company and lead their way to the top. He had even mentioned that he could see the same spark in his kids as his late father, Dhirubhai Ambani, who also happens to be the founder of Reliance and a huge contributor to the country's growth.

For the unversed, over the years, Akash Ambani has worked hard to prove his worth in becoming a chairman. He had guided the key acquisitions of Jio in the digital market and has been deeply involved in new-age technologies, including AI-ML and blockchain. He also had helped in trailblazing global investments by tech majors and investors in 2020. And that had led Jio's way into the global market.
