Last year, Nita Ambani was announced as the chairperson of the 8.5 billion USD behemoth, which will be formed through a merger between Disney and Reliance Industries. After the announcement, CNN Business shared that Nita Ambani is now the most powerful woman in the Indian media and entertainment sector.
As per a 2024 report in DNA, Nita Ambani's net worth is around the estimated sum of Rs. 2,510 crore. Apart from having vital positions at Reliance Foundation and Reliance Industries, Nita Ambani also plays a key role in many other business ventures. She is the founder and chairperson of Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Indian Super League, Her Circle, and Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC).
Leading all these different business ventures like a 'Boss Lady', Nita Ambani is the source of inspiration for so many young aspiring businesswomen. However, there's still one more feather on her cap, and it is related to her incredible contribution to Indian cricket. For the uninitiated, Nita Ambani is the co-owner of five-time IPL winner, Mumbai Indians. Time and again, we have seen Nita engaging with players and motivating them during setbacks like a true team co-owner.
Nita Ambani scouted players like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tilak Verma. For the uninitiated, Mumbai Indians is renowned for its scouting network as, over the years, they've found some incredibly talented young cricketers. During an event in Boston, Nita shared how her scouting team told her about two young boys, who had eaten nothing but only noodles for three years because of lack of money. When Nita saw Hardik and Krunal for the first time, she was convinced that both had an immense hunger for cricket. As a result, Nita signed them, and the rest is in history. Recalling the same, she said:
"Our scouts took two young, lanky, thin boys to the camp. I was talking to them, and they said that for three years, they've eaten nothing but Maggi, Noodles because they've had no money. But in them, I saw the spirit, the passion, and the hunger that they wanted to make it big,"
Further, in the same event, Nita Ambani also talked about Jasprit Bumrah and revealed that she found his unorthodox bowling action quite unique. She also added that she saw Bumrah talking to the ball, and it was at that moment when she decided to put her faith in him. She said:

"They said watch him bowl. We watched him, he could just speak to the ball. That was our Bumrah, and the rest is history."
At the end of her statement, Nita Ambani shared that she used to watch matches of the Ranji Trophy with her scouts in order to find raw talent. Over the years, she has succeeded in her project, and Mumbai Indians is known as the nursery of Indian cricket. Nita also added that she scouted Tilak Verma, who is now a part of the Indian cricket team. She said:
"I used to go to every Ranji Trophy match. My scouts and I would go to all these domestic cricket matches. Mumbai Indians are rightfully called the Nursery of Cricket in India. I bought Hardik Pandya Krunal Pandya, now Hardik is proud Captain of MI. We launched Tilak Verma, now he's a proud member of Team India."
During the IPL 2025, Nita Ambani broke into the headlines once again when Mumbai Indians 'impact player', Vignesh Puthur, took three wickets on his IPL debut. For the uninitiated, Vignesh is a 24-year-old cricketer who had never played at the senior level in domestic cricket but made his mark on the biggest stage. Vignesh took the crucial wickets of Chennai Super Kings star players, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Deepak Hooda.
The youngster was bestowed with the 'Best Bowler' award, which Vignesh Puthur received from Nita Ambani, the lady who scouted him and gave him the platform to showcase his exceptional talent. For the uninitiated, Nita Ambani scouted Vignesh after he performed well in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). The chairperson of Mumbai Indians, Nita Ambani, signed him for Rs. 30 lakhs and also gave him time to shine on the pitch. Vigesh is an auto-driver's son, and the way Nita Ambani put her faith in him despite knowing that he hadn't played at the senior level is truly inspirational.
